Comedian Kim Min-kyung recalled her hard debut days.
Kim Min-kyung appeared on the variety show 'Let's Go Go,' which aired on the general programming channel MBN on the 2nd, alongside Ahn Jung-hwan, Hong Hyun-hee, the food group Jo Jae-joo, Lee Ho-chul, and Lee Dae-ho, to partake in a summer health food mukbang.
Kim Min-kyung, who prepared eel soup, said, "I don't know if it will suit my taste. I'm the daughter of an eel soup house, but I haven't eaten eel soup. I didn't eat it because I dislike the smell of boiling loaches."
She continued, "While doing 'Delicious Guys,' I ate eel soup, and it was so delicious. My mom felt betrayed. She asked, 'You're the daughter of an eel soup house, but you don't eat your mom's eel soup and eat it outside?' When I went home and tasted it, it was delicious. Since then, I started eating eel soup."
Regarding her debut, she recalled, "I did a lot of street performances and performed in Daehangno for a long time. Even after my debut, I had no signing fee. Women have to deal with their periods once a month. I didn't have money to buy sanitary pads. I had to grant performances to receive appearance fees, so I had no income. I couldn't do part-time jobs since I was in the meeting room all day."
She added, "Since I couldn't earn money, my annual income was 0 won. I never once asked my family for help. I was afraid they would tell me to come home if I mentioned it. For the first time, I asked my older sister for help. I lived hard with that, and then I started earning income by appearing in a corner with Lee Sugeun. With the first signing fee I received, I found a studio apartment that cost 5 million won with a deposit of 300,000 won."
She chuckled, saying, "Since I had nothing and it was so hot, I didn't eat the eel soup my mom sent; I froze it and slept while hugging it."
