The Amazon Prime Video series 'Butterfly', featuring actors Kim Tae-hee, Kim Ji-hoon, Park Hae-soo, and others, captures Korea and is set to find domestic viewers on tvN.
'Butterfly (Butterfly)', which will premiere for the first time in Korea on 22nd, is a spy thriller series based on the graphic novel of the same name, depicting the cat-and-mouse story of the veiled former U.S. intelligence agent David Jung (played by Daniel Dae Kim) and the current agent Rebecca (played by Reina Hardesty) sent to kill him.
'Butterfly' draws attention as a work that has a special connection to Korea. First, Korean-American actor Daniel Dae Kim is the producer and lead actor. Additionally, Ken Woodruff, who participated in 'The Mentalist' and 'Gotham', and Korean-American writer Steph Cha, who won the Los Angeles Times Mystery/Thriller category for her 2019 novel, serve as co-producers and showrunners.
Furthermore, since David Jung appears as a former U.S. spy living in Korea, disconnected from the world, the shooting took place in Seoul and Busan, among other locations in Korea. As a result, Daniel Dae Kim was appointed as an honorary citizen of Seoul, drawing attention.
Above all, the project gathers more attention because it features Korean actors. It has been known as a Hollywood debut project for top stars like Kim Ji-hoon, Park Hae-soo, Kim Tae-hee, Sung Dong-il, and Lee Il-hwa, and has generated a lot of buzz since the production stage. The previously released trailer also contained footage of them, increasing anticipation for 'Butterfly'.
Today (5th), the domestic poster for 'Butterfly' was unveiled through tvN's social media. In the series, Daniel Dae Kim and Reina Hardesty, who portray past and present agents, aim their guns with sharp gazes. The design that reflects the existing poster's Hangul representation of 'butterfly' also catches the eye. The series will premiere on 22nd at 10:40 p.m.
