On the 5th, an interview with actor Lee Seok was conducted at the OSEN office located in Hapjeong-dong, Mapo District, Seoul.
Actor Lee Seok has recently showcased impressive acting as the so-called 'Jump Rope Wall Blocker' in the Netflix original series 'Squid Game' seasons 2 and 3, and in 'Trigger,' he played the role of a sex offender, leaving a strong impression.
In this regard, Lee Seok noted, "Previously, people recognized me for 'Casino,' but these days it's 'OGem,' 'Trigger,' and 'Omniscient Reader' as well; they recognize me in various ways. Even the cafe owner recognized me and provided service, and just yesterday while I was having dinner, a family at the table next to me handed me two bottles of cola and said, 'I really enjoyed Trigger.'" He shared his perspective on the local reactions.
Continuing to appear in works on OTT platforms and leaving a strong impression as a fierce villain, Lee Seok was asked about the 'secret' behind his thoughts, saying, "Is it because I'm a venomous actor?" He continued, "Haven't I had a lot of strong roles? In weekend dramas or on public broadcasts, characters like Jeon Won-seong can't appear. In that regard, I think it allows me to express myself freely, refreshingly, and without restrictions," he laughed.
He added, "Typically, I don't curse at all and prefer not to. Director Kang Yoon-seong of 'Casino' once told me, 'You curse better than anyone in our country.' So this time in 'Low Life,' he told me to come and curse a bit, which is why I made a special appearance." He mentioned, "Of course, there is a catharsis in playing a villain, but there's also the sadness that my children can't watch my works, so in the future, I want to work on projects that we can all watch together, cuddled up with my daughter."
However, Lee Seok stated, "I have a work that I will be appearing in soon, where I play a common citizen. The project I am currently shooting is my first lead role in a warm family drama. My wishes are gradually coming true," hinting at a transformation in various appearances.
Reflecting on the year 2025, he remarked, "I am so grateful for this year. It's great in terms of projects too. When there is a child at home, I am just grateful that they are healthy and growing well. For the rest of the year, as it might sound provocative, I want to act without regrets, even if I quit being an actor at any time. If someone is sick or unable to act, I want to be able to let go without regrets," he emphasized.
He also said, "Since I've done so many strong characters in the past, I want to show the public my different sides now. I hope to show them, 'Oh, Lee Seok had that side too? Was he that sweet? It was fun?'" He added, "And I know it's a bit greedy, but I always want to give a fresh feeling. That's my thought. When he appears, will he be different every time? I want to become an actor who is approachable and kind."
