On 4th, U+ Mobile TV, which has rapidly emerged as a next-generation OTT with its original drama 'Friendly Rivalry', and comprehensive entertainment company Spring ENT announced their joint production of the original drama 'Future's Future' for the second half of the year.
The drama 'Future's Future' is a six-episode hybrid situation romantic drama centered around the protagonist 'Gong Mi-rae', who is clumsy in love but serious in heart. The protagonist, representing the MZ generation, shouts, "Are you saying it's youth because it hurts? No, there is no worry that overcomes hunger," and the story will capture her emotional growth as she finds her true self after completely breaking free from the fantasy of first love.
In particular, the fresh combination of actors is a point of anticipation for 'Future's Future'. The role of 'Gong Mi-rae', representing the MZ generation, will be played by Nana, the leader of the rising Z generation icon group WOOAH, while Kim Dong-hyun of AB6IX is cast as 'Lee Hyun-jae', creating a heart-fluttering love line.
Additionally, actor Ko Kyu-pil, who has become a box-office guarantee with his distinctive characters in each work, will appear as 'Gong Mi-rae's' uncle and is expected to showcase extraordinary tiki-taka. Other cast members include Cha Kyung-eun, who has made a name for herself through 'SNL Korea Season 7', and Jo Yi-gun, who delivered impressive performances in the Netflix series 'Trunk'.
Director Lim Gong-sam, who is in charge of 'Future's Future', noted, "In an era where the value of relationships has become less meaningful, we hope to shed light on the value of precious connections and deliver courage to the youth living in the present with a lively drama." He added that the production company Spring ENT would showcase a work that embodies all their production know-how and reveals a new direction for the original series of U+ Mobile TV, which is emerging as a next-generation OTT.
Meanwhile, 'Future's Future' is scheduled for exclusive release on U+ Mobile TV in the second half of 2025, having completed the full script reading on July 31st and set to begin filming in early August.
