Musician Kang Lin (real name Kang In-gu), a member of the group E.O.S, who pioneered Euro techno sound in Korea, has passed away. He was 58 years old.
On the 4th, according to the entertainment industry, Kang Lin was found dead in a hotel room in Yeouido, Seoul, on July 31. Authorities are currently investigating the exact circumstances of his death, and no signs of foul play have been confirmed so far.
The deceased debuted as a keyboardist with the group E.O.S in 1993. In the first regular album, he was an instrumental member, and in the subsequent second and third albums, he took on the role of producer, leading the overall sound. E.O.S left a strong impression on music fans in the early 1990s with their sensory Euro techno sounds in songs such as 'Dreams, Fantasies, and Delusions,' 'You Are Not Others,' and 'Each Path.'
In particular, they were praised for popularizing Eurodance and electronic music, which were unfamiliar in Korea at the time, as having 'forward-thinking emotions.' 'Dreams, Fantasies, and Delusions' is still considered one of Korea's representative city pop masterpieces and has become a subject for remakes by younger artists.
Even after leaving E.O.S, Kang Lin continued to actively engage in music. In 1995, he formed a group called 'Lynn O&X,' attempting new musical experiments, and produced albums for rock bands such as 'Marie Jane' and 'Zett,' maintaining his presence as a musician.
In 2002, he reconnected with the public as a guest vocalist on an album by Toy, led by Yoo Hee-yeol. His deep musicality and refined emotions provided a fresh shock to fans at that time.
