tvN STORY 'What Happened to Adults' (planned by Jeong Min-sik, directed by Seong Jeong-eun) will feature comedian turned bestselling author Go Myeong-hwan for its 10th anniversary special.
The 'What Happened to Adults' 10th anniversary special, airing today (5th) at 8:20 p.m., will present a meaningful lecture by author Go Myeong-hwan, who boasts a glamorous background as a comedian, actor, CEO of a restaurant with an annual revenue of 1 billion won, bestselling author, and star instructor. Award-winning author Han Kang, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature, will also be joining Go Myeong-hwan, who was selected for the 'Author of the Year' award in 2024, to share insights on living a valuable life and overcoming limits, centered around the theme 'What is the value of your life?'
After about five years of anonymity following his debut in the entertainment industry, Go Myeong-hwan began to make a name for himself as a comedian and actor. He recounts a moment when he faced a life-and-death situation due to a sudden traffic accident. In a situation where even a single second made it hard to sustain life, the first thought that came to his mind upon hearing a doctor say, 'Please leave a will,' was regret and resentment about having lived his life according to the standards and judgments of others.
After overcoming health challenges, Go Myeong-hwan explains that he began to break free from societal norms and create an independent life. He particularly credits 'reading' as the reason he could become a writer, despite being a student who didn't study, read, or engage much during his school years. He noted that just like the saying 'You see as much as you know,' reading allowed him to expand his thoughts and experiences, and thanks to the power of books, he not only became a bestselling author but also overcame four business failures and is now successfully walking the path of an entrepreneur.
Additionally, Go Myeong-hwan suggested a special reading method for the audience and shared tips to break free from conventional thinking, captivating the studio. Comedian Hwang Je-seong, who attended the lecture, introduced his connection to his senior comedian Go Myeong-hwan, and actress Oh Min-ae, who gave a memorable performance as Yang Kwan-sik's mother in the drama 'When Life Gives You Tangerines', expressed her determination towards reading by shouting Go Myeong-hwan's positive affirmation, raising curiosity.
'What Happened to Adults' is a special lecture show that presents various talks across fields like history, literature, science, and art, delivering diverse knowledge and insights to viewers who have 'become adults by chance.' Returning for its 10th anniversary special, tvN STORY 'What Happened to Adults' airs every Tuesday evening at 8:20 p.m.
