Actor Kang Ji-seob, who was involved in a controversy about being a follower of the Christian Gospel Mission (JMS), appeared on the comprehensive channel MBN's entertainment program 'Oh Eun-young Stay' that aired on the afternoon of the 4th.
On this broadcast, Kang Ji-seob appeared with the nickname 'Scarlet Letter.'
Kang Ji-seob explained his nickname by saying, "I thought it was the right path, but it turned out to be the wrong one, so it is a scarlet letter stamped due to ignorance."
Before the broadcast, Kang Ji-seob opened up in an interview with the production team, saying, "Isn't it going to cause a problem if I talk and stir things up? Now people have forgotten, and there are some who say, 'Was there such a thing?' Nonetheless, it's a matter that has to be addressed at least once."
Kang Ji-seob further addressed the controversial religious issue, stating, "I went there simply to find a place of solace. I wanted to endure in a proper way. I didn't want to fall into a bad place, reason, or alcohol, which is why I went there," adding that "women suffered physically, while men were mostly affected financially through tithing. They were continuously gaslighted."
Previously, Kang Ji-seob became embroiled in controversy after being accused of being a follower of the Christian Gospel Mission when the Netflix documentary 'I Am God: People Betrayed by God' was released in 2023. Following this, Kang Ji-seob certified his exit from the church by tearing apart a picture frame of Jesus, noting, "Why did I leave it in storage when I should have thrown it away long ago?"
In addition, after the allegations surfaced, Kang Ji-seob stated, "It was a place I went to with a really pure heart wishing to pray during a difficult time, and I thought it was a general place. However, I felt a sense of alienation that was far from my initial beliefs, so I left. I left before recognizing that such ugly things had occurred. After learning about their wicked actions, I hoped and worried that those who were with me in pure spirits would not be harmed. I offer my deepest condolences to everyone who has once again been hurt."
