Comedian Shim Jin-hwa revealed her recent status after giving up on having a child.
On the 3rd, Shim Jin-hwa celebrated a friend's birthday with a post saying, "Happy birthday, Hong♥," along with several photos.
The posted photos showed Shim Jin-hwa lighting candles on a fruit cake and praying. With her eyes closed and hands clasped, she offered a prayer, revealing her heartfelt feelings and pride as she said, "I congratulate you on your birthday."
Earlier, on the 2nd, Shim Jin-hwa shared on her personal social media, "Today, I got teary-eyed several times and just managed to hold it back; I cried a lot just once," reflecting on her feelings after attending the first birthday party of Kang Jae-joon and Lee Eun-hyung's son.
She added, "Ah! We have decided to live well without a child. Thank you to everyone who supported us. You can stop cheering for our child now."
Shim Jin-hwa married fellow comedian Kim Won-hyo in 2011 and has undergone 10 years of infertility treatment and in vitro fertilization to have a second child. In a 2021 broadcast of KBS2's Problem Child in House, she stated, "Many infertile couples hide this, but I don't think it's a crime. I believe that openly showing in vitro fertilization itself has meaning," and added, "I heard that I would have a child in 10 years. Since this is the last year, I thought about trying one last time."
However, she announced that she would give up on her plan for a second child, and many supportive messages have arisen from those around her, acknowledging her difficult decision.
