EVNNE showcased a new charm with their first hip-hop title track, hinting at a more mature image.
Recently, EVNNE held a release commemorative interview for their fifth mini-album 'LOVE ANECDOTE(S)' at a cafe in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and shared thoughts about the new album.
Announcing their comeback six months after the previous mini album 'HOT MESS', EVNNE said, "We successfully wrapped up the concert and are coming back after six months. As we are approaching our second anniversary, we feel like we can show more seasoned and relaxed sides of ourselves. Our fans are looking forward to it, and we want to showcase our talents in various places."
EVNNE's new release 'LOVE ANECDOTE(S)' captures the moment love begins, portraying the unique laid-back and confident charm of EVNNE that naturally draws in the other person. The members express their feelings towards others in diverse ways, each showcasing their individuality and vibe.
The title track 'How Can I Do' is a hip-hop track infused with funky drums and a heavy bass featuring EVNNE's unique laid-back and confident charm. The song playfully conveys the attitude of wanting to lead love in their own way, with the members' diverse personalities shining through a dynamic structure that alternates between bold raps and cheeky vocals.
Taking on a hip-hop title track for the first time, EVNNE expressed their confidence, stating, "This is our first attempt at a hip-hop title track, and since all our members love hip-hop and we have four rappers, we thought positively as soon as we heard it. We want to convey that we are confident about this comeback as the completed song turned out well."
They continued, "We produced the album based on the theme of flirting. We included the message of leading the other person in a relaxed manner in our own way. The melody that alternates between rap and vocals is diverse, pleasant to listen to, and the intense performance adds to the viewing experience."
Among EVNNE, Mun Jeong-hyeon is regarded as a master of flirting and noted, "I often say that you are mine, but when there are frequent opportunities to meet fans at fan signings or events, I prefer to communicate through eye contact rather than words. I enjoy making eye contact with fans, so I try to maintain eye contact with them as much as possible. Sometimes, they even avoid it," he said with a smile.
With this new song, EVNNE is set to shed the intense image they have previously shown, hinting at a sexy and mature charm. Ji Yoon-seo explained, "The title track 'How Can I Do' is a song that has been around since our first album. We recorded it back then, but at that time, we couldn't fully realize it, so it wasn't entirely ours yet. While preparing it now, we've grown and gained much experience, so I think we can now show it so well that we can call it truly ours."
Yoo Seung-eon stated, "We made every effort to achieve as sophisticated a production as possible. I believe you will feel the members' relaxed, mature, and sexy expressions," adding, "This year, we all became adults. I thought that might give us an advantage in expressing ourselves freely. Our skills and expressiveness have matured, so I think we can handle it well."
EVNNE achieved first place on terrestrial music broadcasts with their previous work 'HOT MESS' and gained good results by reaching real-time charts. High expectations are set for this album as well. Yoo Seung-eon mentioned, "Last time, we received a lot of love from our fans during music broadcasts and achieved first place, and we definitely want to achieve that again this time. When I first heard this song, I thought it was something you could listen to comfortably. It has a more refined tension. I see it as a song that shows comfort in listening while delivering intensity and sexiness on stage, so I am looking forward to our activities this time."
Additionally, Park Ji-hu stated as a goal for this activity, "I hope it will rank among the most played music on the Spotify app," while Ji Yoon-seo mentioned, "Our goal for this activity is to achieve first place in music broadcasts, and further, we are looking forward to our U.S. tour, hoping to present our stage at major overseas festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza."
Meanwhile, ahead of their second debut anniversary, EVNNE, when asked about contract renewal, said, "We are currently discussing it well with the company. We are in discussions about the contract, keeping our fans' interests as a top priority while striving to maintain harmony among the members."
