Comedian Shim Jin-hwa has wrapped up her long and difficult journey with infertility treatment and the plan for a second child, choosing to enjoy a happy life with her husband, Kim Won-hyo.
Shim Jin-hwa shared on the 2nd on her social media, "Today, I have been overwhelmed and held back my tears several times, only crying a lot once," while conveying her thoughts after attending the first birthday party of comedian Lee Eun-hyung and comedian Kang Jae-jun's son. She added, "Ah! We have decided to live well without children. I really appreciate all the many people who have supported us. Now, you can stop cheering for our child," drawing attention.
After marrying in 2011, the couple Kim Won-hyo and Shim Jin-hwa had held onto hope through over 10 years of infertility treatment and in vitro fertilization procedures, ultimately deciding to conclude their long journey on their own terms. With his determination to "live well without children," countless netizens have offered their support and encouragement.
Previously, Shim Jin-hwa candidly shared the difficulties of being an infertile couple while appearing on the 2021 KBS2 show "Problem Child in House." He noted, "Infertility is not a crime. Many couples hide this, but I thought it was meaningful to openly show the treatment process." He continued, "Since it was Kim Won-hyo's first experience, it must have been very difficult for him, but he learned how to give injections by going to the hospital and supported me," expressing gratitude towards her husband.
Kim Won-hyo also revealed on the show, "While hope arises, I am cautious because it might become a hope torture." The couple recalled a story from the early days of their marriage, saying, "We were told that we would have a child in 10 years. So, we thought this year would be our last and we were determined to give it one more shot."
