'Mary Kills People' Lee Bo-young's background as a killer doctor has been revealed.
The first episode of MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Mary Kills People' (planned by Kwon Seong-chang, directed by Park Jun-woo, written by Lee Soo-ah) aired on the 1st, showing Woo So-jung (played by Lee Bo-young) deciding on the euthanasia consultation for Jo Hyun-woo (played by Lee Min-ki).
On that day, after footage was left by soccer player Choi Kang-yoon (played by Lee Sang-yoon), confirming that it was his own choice, Woo So-jung said, 'If you're not mentally prepared, you don't have to do it today. You can postpone it or stop it,' but Choi Kang-yoon replied, 'No. I want to go now before the pain comes.'
However, after taking benzonatate and closing his eyes, Choi Kang-yoon opened his eyes again, resulting in an unexpected situation. Ultimately, Woo So-jung approached with a pillow to fulfill the patient's request. After finishing the task, Woo So-jung expressed doubt, saying, 'To suddenly die and come back to life; this is the first time I've experienced something like this.'
Choi Dae-hyeon expressed suspicion, saying, 'The problem doesn't seem to be with the benzonatate but with the transfer drug. Did you not use the proper base?' but Woo So-jung was certain it was a problem with the benzonatate.
Later, Choi Dae-hyeon went to see Kim Si-hyun (played by Oh Ui-sik), who had helped him get the benzonatate, and asked. Kim Si-hyun said, 'I exchanged some water. I just wanted to confirm that you don't resell the drugs,' and Choi Dae-hyeon replied, 'I don't plan to be a drug dealer. I won't invade your profits. Just give me the proper stuff.'
Meanwhile, Woo So-jung met Jo Hyun-woo, a terminal cancer patient. Woo So-jung approached Jo Hyun-woo, who works as a delivery driver, saying, 'Is this Jo Hyun-woo? I've seen your medical records. It must be very tough.' Jo Hyun-woo replied, 'I heard you're going to consult me. I heard you give advice that is different from normal people. I heard you provide help from Switzerland.'
When Choi Dae-hyeon mentioned the expense, Jo Hyun-woo responded, 'I can offer at least the expense I heard from Ye Na (played by Yoon Ga-i). I'm still working like this.' In response, Woo So-jung warned, 'Soon, it will be hard to endure any pain relief. Working could be dangerous.'
Then Jo Hyun-woo said, 'I have to pass this interview for you to help me, right? I heard you don't just help anyone,' and he added, 'Please let me know how the results turn out. I'm used to rejection,' and he seemed to give up as he left, while Woo So-jung looked at his back.
Jo Hyun-woo collapsed after losing consciousness while riding his motorcycle as usual. In the emergency room, Woo So-jung asked, 'When was the last time you took painkillers? You need to tell me the type and timing to help you,' but Jo Hyun-woo shot back, 'You know my condition. I just took whatever, whenever.'
Eventually, Jo Hyun-woo secretly left the hospital, but not long after, he collapsed again. When Woo So-jung supported him, he requested, 'Help me. I want to stop. Please stop.' and requested euthanasia.
Woo So-jung said, 'I will proceed with the consultation, and a friend you met previously will contact you. You can tell that friend where and how you want to leave. So, until then, try to do what you truly want. Sincerely.'
In particular, on this day, Ahn Tae-seong (played by Kim Tae-woo) and the police were investigating the euthanasia case and were pursuing Woo So-jung and Choi Dae-hyeon's group. They already knew what Woo So-jung's group was doing, providing a twist.
At the end of the video, Woo So-jung's confession from two years ago was revealed. He cried, saying, 'I forced treatment and suffered my patients due to my guilt.' Even after the priest said it wasn't his fault, Woo So-jung responded, 'I am going to leave my faith now. I am no longer Maria,' as he seemed to awaken and stepped outside, increasing curiosity.
