PD Choi Byeong-gil explained regarding the debt owed to his ex-wife Seo Yu-ri, stating, "It's just a business liability, not personal misappropriation," but Seo countered directly, saying, "I had no equity." Seo, who admitted to having taken on debts amounting to 2 billion won after the divorce, increased her response level, claiming that Choi's explanation was different from the facts.
Earlier, PD Choi Byeong-gil posted on his Instagram on the 2nd, saying, "I want to correct the misunderstandings that have arisen."
He clarified about the financial conflict with Seo Yu-ri that "the debt I owe is the money I invested in the business 'Rona Universe' that I ran together with Seo Yu-ri," adding, "The equity was 50:50, and due to the business's downturn, I ended up taking on all the liabilities."
He added, "The Yeouido house was sold at a low price, and the Yongsan house went to auction," stating, "I will responsibly fulfill the debt I agreed to repay to Seo Yu-ri." He emphasized, "I did not misappropriate Seo Yu-ri's money personally. I want to make this point clear."
However, on the same day, Seo Yu-ri countered PD Choi's explanation directly through social media, stating, "I had no equity in Rona Universe." Seo noted, "Mr. Choi ○-ho, the deputy representative of Rona Universe, directly said that I had no equity. There is a recording of this," adding, "I have never used the corporate credit card."
Seo also expressed her strong displeasure, saying, "You blame all of your debt from studying abroad in the U.S., loans from secondary financial institutions, and costs for buying a Ferrari on the business," and added, "Just looking at one bank transfer record, all your lies will be exposed. I'm already upset, and this just makes me angrier."
She warned, asking, "If you haven't been able to repay the debt you agreed to by last December, shouldn't you have at least refrained from unnecessary disputes?" Furthermore, she stated, "If you keep claiming falsehoods, I will have no choice but to disclose critical evidence."
The couple married in 2019 and completed their divorce mediation in June of last year. They have no children. At the time of the divorce, Seo Yu-ri claimed that PD Choi borrowed a total of 600 million won over five years, of which he only repaid half, 300 million won. In relation to this, PD Choi Byeong-gil rebutted, saying, "The amount I owe is 70 million won," indicating that both sides are in sharp conflict.
Recently, Seo Yu-ri stated on the YouTube entertainment show 'Pajama Sisters Party' that, "I took on debts of 2 billion won after the divorce and have repaid about 1.3 billion won so far," adding, "I will take full responsibility and repay it completely."
Meanwhile, Seo Yu-ri is active in both voice acting and broadcasting, while PD Choi Byeong-gil directed dramas such as 'Hotel King' and 'Angry Mom.'
