Broadcaster Ahn Sun-young candidly confessed about her home shopping grants.
Ahn Sun-young released a video titled "Stop" on her YouTube channel "This is Ahn Sun-young" on the 2nd.
In the video, Ahn Sun-young clarified one of the controversies surrounding her "Ahn Sun-young home shopping 1-hour grants of 15 million won." Ahn Sun-young said, "If you watch the first episode, the producer says, 'I am a YouTube genius. The charm is to be bold and straightforward about everything. Let's talk about grants' and so, as if mesmerized, I said that this is the level now, with the title and thumbnail reading, '1-hour grants of 15 million won, Ahn Sun-young is now letting go of everything and starting over from the bottom.'"
Ahn Sun-young said, "I can be touched but if you touch my mom or son, I won't stand still. A certain reporter mentioned that I was suddenly going to Canada because of one thing, and after watching my social media and YouTube, they stitched it together and suddenly wrote, 'Ahn Sun-young home shopping celebrity grants exposure.' When I started as a YouTuber, I was a queen in home shopping, but here I am, really nothing, starting anew from zero just like everyone else. I sent a formal request asking for correction after watching a video from two years ago, but they didn't take it down."
Ahn Sun-young said, "Writing something that is not true is a lie, isn't it? When have I ever exposed the grants of other home shopping participants? My grants are 15 million won. You must have felt a lot of discrepancy there. I will speak about the facts, not an industry exposure. I will explain how someone like Ahn Sun-young has reached the level of receiving 15 million won for an hour."
Ahn Sun-young said, "I was the first in Korea to start home shopping. 23 years ago, there were only 2 channels in Korea, and the home shopping I appeared on was smaller than my current studio, and no one wanted to participate, so one company called me. When I debuted as a public recruitment comedian in 2000, I was earning about 30 million won at my previous job but signed up for 500,000 won as a salary when debuting as a public comedian. I thought it was a trainee period where I was earning barely enough to live while pursuing my dreams. I didn't earn 15 million won from the start."
Ahn Sun-young continued, "I spent all of my 20s paying off the debts my mother made while raising me. At that time, I worked without filter and prepared to the extent of even being willing to eat soap on home shopping, and I struck it big. I have never been late or missed a live broadcast in 26 years and have never failed to meet target sales, which meant I couldn't secure my next broadcast. Also, because it was a promise with a company, channel, and many people, even when I confirmed my first love of 5 years was cheating and cried out, the next day, I showed up for home shopping without sleeping. Even when my mother was going into breast cancer surgery, I went out crying for home shopping. I kept smiling and working even when I knew about embezzlement by staff. I believe that I had to do that and that it is included in my value."
Ahn Sun-young said, "Just because I have worked as a celebrity for a long time does not mean I should become a target of criticism. I thought being too honest is attractive, and I apologize if I cut things sharply. I hope you did not feel any discrepancies. The value of my life lived for 26 years only pertains to me. After doing something for over 20 years, a peak does come. The more recent value of my created worth is the price from 5 to 6 years ago. It is the amount defined after selling over 1 trillion. I will continue to work harder and strive to return the value that I have earned to you all."
