The official soundtrack of the Netflix animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' has topped the UK Official Singles Chart 'Top 100'.
According to the official chart released on 1st (local time), the soundtrack 'Golden' from 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' has reached the number one spot on the Official Singles Chart 'Top 100'. 'Golden', which ranked 4th the previous week, climbed 3 spots to reach the top.
It has been 13 years since a K-Pop artist topped this chart, the last being Psy's 'Gangnam Style' in 2012. 'Golden' achieved this feat in its 6th week of release, showcasing its unrelenting popularity.
Additionally, it is the first time in 3 years that an animated soundtrack has reached number one on the singles chart since the 2022 film 'Encanto's' 'We Don't Talk About Bruno.'
'Golden' is the theme song for Lumi, the protagonist of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' and tells the story of Lumi, who decides to stop hiding and embrace the world, despite the confusion caused by her identity. The song was completed with the help of 'K-Pop hitmaker' Teddy and the production team from The Black Label.
Meanwhile, 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' is a recently released animated film on Netflix, featuring K-Pop superstars the girl group HuntRix (Lumi, Mira, Joy) as they become hidden heroes to protect the world by turning the monsters behind their glamorous performances into their own voice.
Not only K-Pop but also the detailed elements reflecting Korean-style authenticity, along with soundtracks like 'Golden,' 'Your Idol,' and 'Soda Pop,' are sweeping the Billboard charts and creating a global phenomenon.
The 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' OST has reached 3rd place on the Billboard main album chart 'Billboard 200,' while 'Golden' ranked 2nd on the U.S. Billboard main singles chart 'Hot 100,' breaking records for animated soundtracks.
