Actress Kim Geum-soon revealed that she lived as a geese mother.
On the 1st, the KBS 2TV variety show Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant featured the warm and cheerful story of Kim Geum-soon and her son.
On this day, with her 21-year-old eldest son about to move out, Kim Geum-soon said, "It's time. I should let him go. He's an adult now, and my second son is also living out, saying, 'Hurry up and leave; it's uncomfortable.'"
When Kim Geum-soon's son Taedu said he was leaving for a goshiwon, Kim Jae-joong remarked, "I lived in a goshiwon since I was 15 years old." He then teased Taedu, who came to the studio, saying, "Taedu, you're leaving late? I went first."
Meanwhile, Kim Geum-soon's home was a small studio apartment with a small living room. Although the place was somewhat cramped, Kim Geum-soon expressed, "Even if you live in a semi-basement studio, it's important to study whether you take out all the deposit or live in short-term dwellings. Experiencing travel is important, and I hope you all live the life you want."
She added, "I've learned a lot from traveling. There are so many aspects you learn from talking with people from different cultures that you don't know at all. I wish the kids would do more of that, so I tell them, 'Go outside, explore, and go around a lot.'"
Through an interview, her son stated, "My mother is a very open-minded person. She often thinks about how she can support us to go in the right direction. When I developed a liking for basketball and said, 'Mom, I want to play basketball,' she really sent me to the U.S."
Kim Geum-soon remarked, "I played basketball well. I was a geese mother. I lived in a goshiwon, a studio, and stayed at friends' homes. I sent him all that, but it seems like a mother's natural obligation more than dedication. Without support and encouragement, wouldn't it be difficult to move forward?"
She continued, "I didn't do it all by myself; my ex-husband and my acquaintances helped me a lot during those times. I didn't do anything alone. If I can't live in a good house, what of it? I'm living happily and well," she shared. Moved by her words, Kim Jae-joong took Kim Geum-soon's hand.
