JD1 revealed his smart shopping tips after six years of living alone.
On the 31st, the thirteenth episode of JD1's YouTube content 'Just a Man' was released through his official YouTube channel.
During the refrigerator reveal in the third episode of 'Just a Man', JD1 shared that he mostly shops at warehouse-style superstores. He honestly conveyed his feelings by saying, "They sell in bulk at cheaper prices. So, I come to shop often, and it feels weird because we are filming.
On that day, JD1 visited a market to buy ingredients for home-cooked meals for his dogs, Teddy and Bear. He began his shopping in earnest with the joke, "Aren't I also the cooking JD1?" He said, "I originally enjoy shopping. Even if I don't have anything to buy, I often visit malls to enjoy The Defects. The warehouse feel somehow feels foreign.
JD1 expressed his concerns about skin troubles and when he placed a moisturizing cream in his cart, the production staff asked, "Didn't you say men use all-in-one products?" He smiled awkwardly and replied, "These days, a man who takes care of his skin is just a guy. A nurturing man, a man who cares for his skin, and just a guy" while unveiling his own 'JD1 logic', making the scene burst into laughter.
He also mentioned his experience living alone. By the years, he has already been living alone for six years and said, "It's not as hard as you think; if you do it like JD1, you'll naturally reach the top level of living alone."
True to the purpose of visiting Trader Joe's, he personally sought out ingredients necessary for healthy home-cooked meals for his dogs, such as chicken breast, tofu, cucumbers, and sweet potatoes. He carefully compared prices and sizes, revealing his economical side, earning admiration from the production team who remarked, "This is not a first-time shopper's skill."
He expressed regret, saying, "Everything at Trader Joe's is good, but the quantities are too large." However, he soon showcased his humor by continuing to fill his cart with various snacks and foods, noting how cheap they were.
After purchasing all the ingredients for home-cooked meals, he pondered when asked by the production staff if he had a steamer at home, saying, "Buying a steamer just for home cooking is a bit much," deep in thought. He reflected on what was possibly one of the biggest dilemmas in his life at age 19, stating, "Honestly, even if the steamer is 50,000 won, it's a dilemma. But this one seems like it would be over 100,000 won," expressing concerns about the price, but ultimately purchased the steamer.
After finishing his shopping, JD1 stood at the checkout, shocked by the high bill of 450,000 won, and said, "I thought it would be around 200,000 won." Nevertheless, his composed payment for the dogs at home added warmth to the scene.
In particular, he showed a meticulous consumer habit by saying, "Installments are just the same money you're paying anyway. I dislike seeing money getting deducted every month, so I don't do installments often." The day's healing shopping concluded with his expression of surprise at the lengthy receipt.
'Just a Man' is JD1's YouTube content that documents the journey of the 19-year-old JD1, who is about to become an adult, as he challenges himself as a man. New videos are uploaded every Thursday at 6 p.m., showcasing JD1's diverse and new facets through various content.
JD1 has established himself as a 'hexagonal artist,' engaging in various activities including concerts and music releases, alongside his character as a K-pop idol. He is set to release a remake single titled 'Easy Lover,' reinterpreting a song by Park Jin-Young, on August 5.
