Pop star Justin Timberlake revealed that he has been diagnosed with Lyme disease and is currently battling it.
On the 31st (local time), U.S. media outlet Variety reported that Justin Timberlake disclosed his diagnosis and shared the difficulties he faced while on his world tour.
Timberlake made his health status public through his social media after completing the world tour. Recently, some fans reacted to him looking lethargic and lacking energy during performances. In response, he explained that it was due to nerve damage and fatigue caused by Lyme disease.
He said, "I have been going through a difficult time due to health issues, and I have been diagnosed with Lyme disease. I'm sharing this not to seek sympathy, but so that you can understand what I have been going through. If you or someone around you has experienced Lyme disease, you know that it is a condition that causes constant mental and physical suffering."
He continued that when he received the diagnosis, he contemplated whether to stop the tour, saying, "When I first received the diagnosis, it was really shocking. I could understand why I was experiencing severe nerve pain, extreme fatigue, and body aches on stage. Ultimately, I had to make a decision. Should I stop the tour, or continue and find a way? I decided that the joy of performing outweighed the stress my body felt, and I chose to continue. I think it was a really good decision."
Finally, he stated, "During that process, I was able to prove my mental resilience to myself, and the many special moments I created with my fans will be unforgettable for a lifetime." He added, "The reason I was cautious about sharing this story is that I learned it's better to hide such things. However, to avoid misunderstandings, I want to be more honest. I want to be of some help to those suffering from the same illness."
Lyme disease is an infectious disease caused by the Borrelia bacteria, which invade the body through tick bites, affecting various organs. Previously, Avril Lavigne and Justin Bieber have also revealed their battles with Lyme disease.
Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake has been conducting his world tour 'Forget Tomorrow World Tour' since April of last year, finishing the tour in Istanbul on July 30.
