(Following interview②) The production team of 'Better Late Than Single' shared their thoughts on the cast member Jisoo.
On the 31st, an interview was conducted with producers Jo Wook-hyung, Kim No-eun, and Won Seung-jae of the Netflix show 'Better Late Than Single' at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
'Better Late Than Single' is a makeover reality dating show that helps inexperienced single people navigate their first romantic relationships, and it concluded with the release of its final episode on the 29th.
Amidst many cast members gaining attention, they mentioned the cast member 'Jisoo,' who drew significant attention for her exceptional beauty and attracted the gaze of male participants and viewers.
Producer Won Seung-jae recalled, "Honestly, I was surprised when Ms. Jisoo came for the interview. We were equally taken aback, thinking, 'Is she really single?' Just having someone like her show up was such a blessing."
He continued, "In fact, when we were picking someone, (Ms. Jisoo) is so pretty that I thought it might be hard to relate. I wondered if her participation was the right choice, but ultimately I'm very grateful she made such an effort, and I appreciate her as a participant."
In particular, Producer Won noted, "I actually graduated from an all-girls school, so I could really empathize with Ms. Jisoo's struggles. Friends around me have shared their negative experiences, so I thought, 'No wonder she would be afraid of dating.'"
He added, "However, from a general perspective, people might wonder, 'How can someone so beautiful be single?' It seems like once her story was shared, people were able to empathize, so I think the message was conveyed well."
Producer Jo also stated, "Typically, there's a stereotype that people with outstanding looks can't possibly be single. It's not just Ms. Jisoo; when I met other people, there were quite a few who made me think, 'Oh?' But when we talked, I found that they had emotional scars, bad memories, or just different thoughts. Some were simply focused on their own work. I'm proud that we were able to bring these stories together and show them. I feel a sense of accomplishment in breaking down the stereotype that singles must fit a certain image."
