The queen of insight, Kim Nam-joo, the wife of actor Kim Seung-woo, revealed her struggles about having a third child.
In the 11th episode of SBS Life's entertainment program 'The queen of insight, Kim Nam-joo' airing at 8:40 p.m. on the 31st, Kim Nam-joo had a Q&A time answering viewers' questions and candidly responded to their curiosity about her life.
When asked about how she implemented the Habrat educational method (a Jewish traditional educational approach) for her children, Kim Nam-joo said, "I really put in a lot of effort. I wanted to raise my children well, so I read parenting books more than I've read in my entire life. I piled them up and read them," adding, "The Jewish educational method that resonated with me was the discussion style and listening to the child's opinions; did I approach it that way?"
In response, the production team of 'The queen of insight, Kim Nam-joo' said, "It seems that way. When I see the kids articulating their thoughts accurately and at a high level, it appears they have been trained." Kim Nam-joo reflected, "I feel sorry because the answers were predetermined. I do ask for opinions like Jewish people do, but in the end, I express the mother's thoughts."
The production team asked, "Nowadays, don't you seek answers from the kids?" and Kim Nam-joo replied, "That's true now. I consult my daughter about everything. So, I'm speaking as if I'm a mom who has raised all the kids. Regarding parenting, my heart has already moved beyond what I can do. My 40s were the happiest."
Kim Nam-joo also shared with a viewer who is contemplating whether to have a second child, saying, "You should have one if circumstances allow you to raise it..." and added, "I also considered a third child because I love babies so much..." She continued, "What I liked about raising two kids was that they are close and it wasn't as lonely as being alone. The downside was that since I raised my first daughter, I had the illusion that I should raise the second one the same way. The two are completely different entities, so being a mom and practicing is not the same. Each time is like the first. That was hard, but it's not because it's difficult that it's a burden," she advised.
Kim Nam-joo married actor Kim Seung-woo in 2005 and they have one son and one daughter.
