Singer Lee Seung-gi noted through Mnet L1VE WIRE that "music is the most thrilling and fun when I do it. My goal is to create a mega hit song after 5 years."
In the 7th episode of the Mnet music talk show L1VE WIRE, which will be broadcast on Aug. 1, band Dongkookhwa's Jeon In-kwon and Lee Seung-gi will reunite for the first time in about 8 years after meeting through a variety program in 2017, sharing a special time together.
On that day's broadcast, Lee Seung-gi said, "Teacher Jeon In-kwon has a difficult image, but he's actually a very warm and somewhat clumsy person," adding, "I hope you all relax and enjoy it." This was because the appearance of Jeon In-kwon captured the tense reaction of MCs Jung Jae-hyung and Code Kunst, as well as the audience. Lee Seung-gi mentioned, "Watching the monitor felt like army barracks when the army commander visits," which made everyone burst into laughter.
Lee Seung-gi also revealed that he has reduced his appearances in variety shows to focus on music activities. He said, "I am taking time to look inside myself these days" and added, "When I ask myself what makes me the most thrilled and excited, it ultimately comes down to 'music' and 'singing.' I'm not a born talent; I'm consistently practicing while also taking vocal lessons."
As Lee Seung-gi marks his 20th anniversary of his debut, he expressed his ambition to leave songs that will be remembered by more people beyond his past musical achievements. He confessed, "My goal is to create a mega hit song that 90% of people will recognize after hearing just 3 seconds of the intro within 5 years," and added, "I think I would be so happy if a song that everyone knows comes out." In response, Jung Jae-hyung asked for on-the-spot advice from Jeon In-kwon, who has many mega hits such as "That Only My World" and "Don't Worry, My Friend," and the unexpected answer he gave reportedly made the studio burst into laughter.
As curiosity about what Jeon In-kwon's answer was heightened, Lee Seung-gi and Jeon In-kwon are drawing attention as they hint at a duet performance that transcends generations. Expectations are rising regarding the musical harmony both musicians will achieve in their different genres.
The 7th episode of L1VE WIRE, featuring Lee Seung-gi and Jeon In-kwon's serious discussion about their friendship and music, including the duet stage they will present together, will air simultaneously on Mnet and tvN at 7 p.m. on Aug. 1.
