Haejini from 'The Return of Superman' expressed her disappointment about not being able to see the baby due to emergency general anesthesia.
In the segment aired on the 30th of KBS's entertainment program 'The Return of Superman' (hereafter 'Superman is Back'), Haejini, a kids' content creator, shared her experience of giving birth to her second child, Popo, in an episode titled 'Thank You for Being Born'.
On that day, Haejini spent time with her first child, Chae-yu, in anticipation of the second delivery. At that moment, her mother came to help watch Chae-yu, and Haejini shared, "This time, the morning sickness was particularly severe, and my belly was really big; it was so tough."
Earlier, Haejini mentioned she was scared about the second delivery. She stated, "I know the pain. The level of pain during recovery after giving birth to Chae-yu was very tough." In response, her mother expressed concern, saying, "This time, take it easy. I am really upset."
Later, Haejini cut Chae-yu's nails, saying, "I can't cut them while mom is away." When Chae-yu asked, "Where are you going, Mom?" Haejini replied, "I am going to pick up Popo. I need to bring Popo back after sleeping for twenty nights. Is that okay?" Chae-yu answered maturely, "Have a good trip."
On the day of the delivery, while on the way to the hospital, Haejini shared, "I feel nervous, but I am also really thirsty and hungry, wishing it would be over soon."
Having fasted since 12 p.m. the previous day, Haejini was thinking of the foods she wanted to eat as she prepared for her surgery after arriving at the hospital. When she felt the second baby's movements, she expressed her longing for the movements, saying, "I really missed this movement since giving birth to Chae-yu. This movement is the last one now."
An hour before the delivery, Haejini said, "I don't feel nervous, but my body seems tense. My stomach hurts. Thinking about the urinary catheter makes me want to stay strong." As she headed to the operating room, her husband encouraged her, saying, "Honey, go well. You can do it, right? Don't be too scared and have a good trip."
Moments later, with the sound of crying, Popo made an appearance. The first words were, "Nice to meet you, Popo." In contrast, Haejini came out in tears.
Haejini explained the situation at the time of the delivery: "While waiting for the spinal anesthesia, I was told that the right side was not fully anesthetized and that it seemed I would need to undergo general anesthesia. When they said I would have to undergo general anesthesia, I was very upset. Not being able to see the baby was hard to bear." She added, "As soon as I woke up, I asked if the baby was okay and how much she weighed."
Popo, the second child, was born healthy at 3.08 kg. Even before fully recovering from the cesarean section, Haejini attempted to stand up to meet the second child. Finally managing to sit up, she commented, "They say cesarean sections are like pay-later systems. It feels like my insides are spilling out."
Gathering her strength, Haejini stood up and held her second child in her arms, saying, "The second one was almost a necessity rather than a choice. Even though it's the second time, it's amazing. I can't believe she came out of my belly."
