CJ ENM and Studio Dragon's Japanese version of the drama "Marry My Husband" has become the most-watched drama in Japan among all Amazon original dramas, including those in English and non-English languages.
Recently, Amazon's Prime Video noted, "The Japanese version of 'Marry My Husband' has achieved the remarkable feat of reaching the highest viewer count among Amazon original dramas in Japan." This count was based on the viewer numbers recorded in Japan over 30 days following the release. (As of July 31, 2025)
The Japanese version of 'Marry My Husband' has maintained the top rank in the Japan Prime Video TOP10 since its release on June 27. The average rating on Prime Video is also high at 4.3 points out of 5. (As of July 31, 2025)
On Filmarks, Japan's largest content review site, positive reviews are pouring in, with comments like, "The partitioning, direction, and dialogues all had a Korean drama feel, which was enjoyable," "A perfect cast, direction, filming, editing, and music. This work confirms the prowess of director Ahn Gil-ho and Studio Dragon," and "It seamlessly integrates Japanese culture and atmosphere, leaving no room for boredom."
The global performance is also noteworthy. According to Flicks Patrol's global OTT viewer ranking site, on the 26th (Saturday), the Japanese version of 'Marry My Husband' ranked 9th in the global TOP10 of Prime Video. Additionally, it has been ranked in the TOP10 in a total of 26 countries, including France, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, since its service began.
Keisuke Oishi, head of the Japanese division of Prime Video Japan, stated, "The Japanese version of 'Marry My Husband', which reinterprets the universal appeal of the original work from a uniquely Japanese perspective, has achieved the highest viewership records ever. This success is evidence that the first collaboration between outstanding creators from Korea and Japan has borne fruit."
Son Ja-young, the chief producer of Studio Dragon who produced the Japanese version following the Korean version of 'Marry My Husband', remarked, "It is meaningful that the Korean production team's first attempt to create an original drama tailored to Japanese sensibilities and culture has been conveyed authentically to local viewers," adding, "I hope this project serves as an opportunity to demonstrate that K-drama can evolve in various ways beyond cultural and regional boundaries."
Meanwhile, the lead actor of the Japanese version of 'Marry My Husband', Takeru Satoh, recently faced controversy for his rude behavior, such as using informal language and mentioning hierarchy, on the Korean YouTube channel 'Neighborhood Friend Kang Nami'.
