The Netflix original animated film "K-Pop Demon Hunters" (hereafter referred to as "Kedehun") has ranked first, achieving the highest viewership numbers ever recorded.
According to a report on the 30th from Netflix's global official social media, "Kedehun" has recorded a total view count of 132.4 million. This surpasses the 2023 release "Leo" (101.2 million) and marks the highest record among all Netflix original animated films.
It is particularly noteworthy that viewership continues to increase even in the sixth week since its release. Following 25.8 million views in the fifth week, the sixth week recorded 26.3 million views, breaking its own record every week.
The performance of the original soundtrack (OST) is also remarkable. The theme song "Golden," performed by the girl group "Huntress" featured in the film, has reached second place on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Additionally, a total of eight OST tracks have entered the Hot 100.
"Kedehun" is an animated film with a storyline where a K-pop idol group fights off evil spirits, attracting global interest with its production that actively reflects Korean elements. The direction is by Maggie Kang, a Canadian director of Korean descent, while the production is handled by Sony Pictures Animation.
