'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' is a high-teen occult romance that follows a high school shaman (played by Cho Yi-hyun) who, after falling in love at first sight with a fateful boy (played by Choo Young-Woo), rescues him. Since its first airing on June 23, it has consistently maintained ratings of first place in the same time slot. Additionally, it surpassed 464 million cumulative views on digital platforms, ranked first for four consecutive weeks in the TVING TOP10 content (from July 1 to 22), and achieved first place for two consecutive weeks in the drama and TV drama issues in the 3rd week of July, receiving high praise from domestic audiences and critics.
Furthermore, it reached 3rd place globally in the Amazon Prime Video TV show category (including English/non-English content) and achieved first place in over 8 countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Egypt, entering the TOP10 in a total of 35 countries, marking significant success in the global market.
In particular, top actor Choo Young-Woo and newly dubbed romance queen Cho Yi-hyun both ranked 1st and 2nd in the drama cast's popularity section (Good Day Corporation Fundex, July 15), and the cast, including rising star Cha Kang-yoon, generated numerous performance indicators in terms of popularity and buzz.
The success of 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' has led to evaluations both within and outside the industry that the EO Contents Group's insight once again proved accurate. Following the earlier drama 'Love Scout' (starring Han Ji-min and Lee Jun-hyuk, directed by Ham Joon-ho, written by Ji-eun, produced by StudioS and EO Contents Group), which caused a box office sensation domestically and internationally in early 2025, EO Contents Group is attracting attention for its planning and production capabilities that accurately grasp viewer and industry demands in creating a quality romance drama.
To achieve this, EO Contents Group decided to develop the drama after only reviewing a six-page webtoon planning proposal in 2019. With the start of Naver Webtoon serialization in 2020, they purchased the rights for video adaptation and initiated production. CEO Oh Eun-young noted, "When I first reviewed the proposal, I was convinced that it would be a work containing all the elements that viewers would like, including a fresh character of a high school shaman, an impossible fateful love, the fun of a love triangle that extends beyond to a quadrangle, a combination of high-teen romance and fantasy thriller genres, and a mystical Oriental shamanism. To realize this, EO Contents Group partnered with DEXTER Pictures, a subsidiary of DEXTER Studio, which possesses top-level VFX technology in Asia and is a co-producer of 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy', which has produced the 'Along With the Gods' series, 'Ashfall', and 'Escape from Mogadishu', and continued collaboration with Studio Dragon to enhance the quality of the work.
Regarding the success factors of 'Love Scout' and 'Gyeonwoo and the Fairy' produced by EO Contents Group, CEO Oh Eun-young stated, "The reason for the distinctive freshness lies in adding a provocative and new concept to the most universal love laws, where two people in difficult situations come together to overcome challenges, help each other's growth, and ultimately build a solid love, alongside the portrayal of a 'female CEO and a male secretary' and a 'high school shaman and a male student possessed by an evil spirit.'" Meanwhile, various romance works filled with fateful love between men and women, character growth of the protagonists, warm healing, and delightful comedy are either in production or about to be produced, including historical romance 'When the Light Shatters', where an enthusiastic prosecutor from Seoul awakens inside the body of a cynical Joseon magistrate and confronts hidden truths and fateful love, romantic comedy 'Dating Under the Wind' where one chases a cheating fiancé and experiences new winds, romantic comedy 'So Rang, So Rang, So Rang' where the female lead meets three men in fateful encounters, and romantic comedy 'Checking in to the Queen' where the Queen from the Joseon era returns as the modern Airbnb president to uncover the secret of her return with handsome guests.
At the same time, EO Contents Group has been verified by critics and the public through the high-teen thriller drama 'Night has come' that ranked first in the Netflix Korea drama section in December 2023, and the horror film 'The Ghost Game', which is set for theatrical release on August 6.
