Singer Yoon Jong-shin presents a new city pop single set against the backdrop of summer in Seoul.
Yoon Jong-shin will release the July edition of the monthly music project 'Monthly Yoon Jong-shin' titled 'Summer Seoul' today at 6 p.m. This song, which is part of the summer city pop series that includes 'Welcome Summer', 'Summer Man', and 'Nevertheless SUMMER', adds a concrete background of 'summer' and 'Seoul', capturing even deeper emotions.
The new song 'Summer Seoul' vividly captures the unique romance and excitement of summer in Seoul and the emotions of the people living there. From sleepless nights in the tropical nights, to alleyways and shops sparkling with lights, and the cityscapes filled with memories of lovers, Yoon Jong-shin encapsulated his affectionate perspective of 'Seoul', where he has lived for over 50 years.
In particular, this new song features Yoon Jong-shin participating in the lyric writing and composing, with long-time city pop partner Song Seong-gyeong also involved in the arrangement. Lyrics include places in Seoul that Yoon Jong-shin holds a special affection for, such as Gangbyeonbuk-ro, Bugak Skyway, and Seongsu, marking the first time 'Seoul' is prominently featured in city pop, shining a new light on the familiar landscapes here.
Yoon Jong-shin confessed through this song that "while I have lived captivated by exotic things for a long time, I now find more inspiration in what is familiar," and noted, "I wanted to capture my growing affection for Seoul in this song." He also quoted a line from the lyrics of 'I Hope It Would Be Like That Now' by Park Joo-yeon, which says, "If only someone told the person trying to set out on a long journey that what is precious is right next to them," indicating it became an opportunity to reflect on the value of what is close.
Yoon Jong-shin remarked, "There is no city as dynamic and diverse as Seoul," adding, "It's a city where the people I have lived with and made memories are, the ones I connect with best. I wanted to celebrate such Seoul this month."
Yoon Jong-shin's 'Summer Seoul', which captures the scenery of the summer in Seoul and the city where we currently stand, will be released today at 6 p.m. on various online music sites.
