The domestic representative OTT platform TVING (CEO Choi Joo-hee) announced on the 29th that it will officially launch its self-produced short-form content 'TVING Short Original' based on K-content production capabilities on August 4.
'TVING Short Original' is short-form content planned and produced exclusively by TVING, with episodes ranging from 1 to 2 minutes in length, covering various genres from drama to entertainment based on concise storylines and immersive storytelling.
The 'TVING Short Original', which will be released on August 4 and 18, consists of 4 episodes with different themes and genres, including suspense revenge, office romance, Boys Love (BL), and romance, and is expected to contribute to the expansion of TVING's original library and the base of K-content.
The first short drama, 'Shut Up, You Are the Villain of My Work,' which will be released on August 4, is a suspense revenge drama where a victim of school violence, who becomes a famous drama writer, meets the perpetrator who bullied her as a lead actor, promising thrilling tension during the hot summer. It features Park Yu-na, who has appeared in 'SKY Castle' and 'Hotel Del Luna,' in her first short drama role, and is helmed by Director Jung Jong-hoon, who directed the hit webtoon adaptation 'Girl's World 2,' along with Writer Jeong Hee-yoon for their second project following the short drama 'Love Money Mafia.'
The same day, 'Neighbor Killer' features Cha Hak-yeon, the leader of the boy group VIXX and an active actor, alongside model and rookie actress Kang Ri-han. This content portrays the bromance between a killer who murders in unusual ways due to his fear of guns and knives and a former superstar baseball player. It is the first short drama co-created by Director Yang Jeong-woo from tvN's 'Ask Us Anything' and Writer Jeong Bo-hun from 'Prison Playbook,' capturing attention for their synergy as they challenge a new format.
On August 18, 'I Will Repay Infidelity with Infidelity' and 'Me, Myself, and I' will be released. 'I Will Repay Infidelity with Infidelity' is a 19-rated office romance where the protagonist, betrayed by her husband and best friend, embarks on a dangerous, contract-based infidelity affair with her best friend's husband. Director Lee Si-young, who won the APAN Star Awards for 'Best Web Drama' for 'Contract Dating,' teams up with Writer Park Ji-eun of 'Half of Me' to create a gripping narrative filled with twists and turns. The cast includes talented newcomers who have left a strong impression through diverse filmographies, such as Baek Soo-hee, Jo Chan-hyun, Kim Sang-hee, and Jeong Ha-kyung.
'Me, Myself, and I' is a coming-of-age story in the short drama format that showcases TVING's strength in 'school-themed' content. It tells the story of an ordinary high school girl who searches for true love after receiving a phone call from her future self ten years later, featuring rookie Kim Si-eun from 'Family Planning' and Yoon Hyun-seok, a member of the boy group CIX. Director Choi Seong-hwan, known for the documentary 'Ryu Jun-yeol and the High School Photographers,' is involved in planning and writing, while Director Kim Yul, known for the web dramas 'Romantic Official Guha-ri' and 'Don't Worry, Salad' is directing.
'TVING Short Original' will be available for viewing on mobile and tablets through a dedicated brand section in the TVING app, and to celebrate its launch, all 'Short Originals' released this year, along with other short-form content, will be free for anyone to enjoy.
TVING noted, 'We plan to showcase various short dramas through both self-produced short originals and collaborations with external production companies,' adding, 'Based on TVING's differentiated K-content production capabilities, we will lead the expansion of domestic K-content while encompassing a diversity of genres and formats.'
