Singer Lim Young-woong announced that he will release an album book instead of a CD for his second studio album.
On the morning of the 29th, Lim Young-woong stated through his official social media, "This second album will not be released as a physical album (hereinafter referred to as 'CD album'). This decision was made after long discussions and deep thoughts with artist Lim Young-woong, and the heartfelt intention of the artist was also deeply understood and agreed upon by Fish Music."
Lim Young-woong's side stated that the reason for not releasing the CD album is that "considering the difficult environment for actual appreciation, the hope that the sincerity and support of fans will not be a burden on them, and also environmental concerns were comprehensively considered."
Lim Young-woong stated in relation to the physical album of this second studio album, 'Music can be kept digitally, and memories can be kept in the album book,' adding, "Instead of releasing an album, for those who wish to have a physical copy, this second album will be produced as a package (album book) containing pictorials, including artist photos, album credits, and a message from Lim Young-woong himself."
In particular, this album book can only be purchased at Lim Young-woong's official MD mall. It does not include a CD and will not be included in the album sales count (such as Gaon, Hanteo, etc.).
This release method is the first of its kind in the music industry. While it is generally uncommon to not have a physical album, aside from digital singles, Lim Young-woong made a significant decision to prevent wasteful environmental impact simply for the sake of increasing sales.
In response, the company Fish Music also said, "While the form in which you can commemorate the album has changed, the emotions and sincerity contained within it have been prepared with the hope that they will become closer to you, so please look forward to it."
Meanwhile, Lim Young-woong's second studio album 'IM HERO 2' will be released on Aug. 29. Prior to that, a new SBS variety show 'Island Bachelor Hero,' featuring Lim Young-woong, will be broadcast on the 26th at 9 p.m.
