Eom Jeong-hwa and Song Seung-heon return with a different romantic comedy.
The Genie TV original drama "My Troublesome Star" (directed by Choi Young-hoon, written by Park Ji-ha, planned by KT Studio Genie, produced by Jumbo Film), which will premiere on August 18, has released a couple still previewing the chaotic comeback show of Bong Cheong-ja (played by Eom Jeong-hwa) and Dokgo-cheol (played by Song Seung-heon) on the 29th.
"My Troublesome Star" is a romantic comedy that unfolds as the top star of Korea suddenly becomes an ordinary middle-aged woman. The comeback show of Bong Cheong-ja (Im Se-ra), a former top star with a 25-year hiatus, and Dokgo-cheol, the noble police officer who helps her, evokes laughter, empathy, and excitement.
Director Choi Young-hoon, known for his stylish direction in "One the Woman" and "Good Casting," and writer Park Ji-ha, who garnered public empathy with "Her Day and Night," have joined forces. With high expectations for the reunion of the reliable production team that showcased their true worth in "Good Casting," attention is focusing on the 10-year reunion between Eom Jeong-hwa and Song Seung-heon since "Miss Wife."
As the veil is lifted, anticipation rises, and the couple still released that day triggers curiosity about the dynamic relationship between Bong Cheong-ja and Dokgo-cheol. First, their reunion is intriguing. Dokgo-cheol met Bong Cheong-ja, dubbed the 'National Goddess,' when he was a rookie detective. She, who had suddenly disappeared after dominating Korea, reappears 25 years later as "Bong Cheong-ja" in front of Dokgo-cheol. The expression of Dokgo-cheol, seeming discontent with Bong Cheong-ja claiming to be "Im Se-ra," whose time and memories have seemingly vanished, is notable. In response, Bong Cheong-ja also asserts herself with a fierce gaze. How these two, who have transitioned from 'National Goddess' to 'just a citizen' and a demoted Dokgo-cheol, will coordinate their comeback show to regain their respective places is already generating curiosity.
The brief confrontation quickly turns into an intriguing partnership. The charismatic Dokgo-cheol pulls out his government employee ID card, which adds to the mystery. Following that, the cheerful disposition of Bong Cheong-ja, who looks particularly confident, adds to the humor. The friendly atmosphere between Bong Cheong-ja and Dokgo-cheol in the next photos hints at a thrilling change. Most importantly, in the earlier trailer, the image of Dokgo-cheol, disguised as Bong Cheong-ja's manager while sneaking in, has amplified curiosity about their relationship that spans back to the past. Attention is focused on whether the comeback show of the 'disgraced top star' Bong Cheong-ja and her guardian, the tall (?) bodyguard Dokgo-cheol, will succeed.
The synergy between Eom Jeong-hwa and Song Seung-heon, who reunite after 10 years, is the highlight of the show. Eom Jeong-hwa expressed, "Though it has been a while since we met, nothing has changed. I was moved by how her appearance and heart were unchanged. Even though it wasn't my scene, I felt that she sincerely engages in acting all the way to the end. I am happy to be together and learned a lot." Song Seung-heon also remarked, "As we've worked together before, I was able to deliver deeper and more comfortable performances, and we could create a more natural chemistry. Meanwhile, the Genie TV original drama "My Troublesome Star" will first air on August 18 (Monday) at 10 p.m. on ENA and will be exclusively available for free VOD immediately after the broadcast every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. on KT Genie TV.
