Korean track and field athlete Namadi Joel Jin's past has been revealed as he won the country's first gold medal in the relay at a global championship.
On the 29th, Namadi Joel Jin shared a message on his Instagram account stating, "Since it was my first Universiade competition, I will learn a lot from this experience and will compete without regrets. I thank everyone who supported me," along with a photo confirming his gold medal.
The representative team consisting of Namadi Joel Jin, Seo Min-jun, Lee Jae-sung, and Kim Jung-yun won the gold medal in the men's 400m relay at the 2025 Rhine-Ruhr Summer Universiade held in Germany on the 27th with a record of 38.50 seconds. This is the first time Korea has won in the relay at a global championship.
Among them, Namadi Joel Jin's face looks familiar. This is because he starred as a child actor in the KBS 2TV drama "Descendants of the Sun," which aired in 2016. His character moved and amused viewers with a line asking the doctor, Chi-hun (played by Onew), to buy him a goat instead of shoes because of a miscommunication.
Namadi Joel Jin, who had once captured the public's attention, has once again made his mark as a patriot by bringing Korea its first gold medal in track and field. Namadi Joel Jin was born to a Korean mother and a Nigerian father who was a long jumper, and he is known to have nurtured his dream of becoming an athlete since elementary school.
