Singer Ko Jeongwoo expressed his deep longing for his deceased grandmother.
Ko appeared on MBN's "Oh Eun-young Stay" broadcast on the afternoon of 28th. On this day, Ko was seen shedding silent tears while listening to a tape recording of the moments he shared with his grandmother, evoking tears from viewers. He has conveyed bright energy through broadcasts and performances, stating, "My only family is my grandmother. She is my friend, my mother, my wife, and all the precious beings in the world."
On this day, Ko reflected on his past, having lived alone with his grandmother since childhood. After parting ways with his mother at the age of two, he endured a difficult environment, relying on each other. Following his grandmother's traffic accident, he became the head of the family and overcame his fear of water, eventually becoming the youngest activist in Haenam. He shared his story of attempting extreme measures due to depression but revealed how looking at his grandmother helped him regain his resolve and strive to live on, moving everyone to tears.
He continued, "My grandmother really wanted to see me graduate from high school, but she passed away suddenly from a cold before she could see it. I stayed with her until her last moments, and after I said my final goodbye, she took her last breath just three seconds later. After the funeral was over, on graduation day, the bouquet my grandmother had reserved arrived. I took the flowers to the columbarium to say goodbye, and when I returned home, only my grandmother's traces remained, and my depression returned."
In pursuit of his dream of becoming a trot singer, Ko Jeongwoo came to Seoul after tremendous effort, and despite having achieved his dream, he found himself without someone to rely on, going through a difficult period filled with anxiety and insomnia. When he mentioned he had come to this place seeking Oh Eun-young's help, Oh Eun-young comforted him by saying, "The weight of responsibility that Ko faced in his childhood was too heavy."
Ko So-young encouraged, "It seems that Ko Jeongwoo hasn't had time to take care of himself. He needs time to express his struggles and find comfort. I hope he praises himself for overcoming difficult times," while Moon Se-yoon empathized, saying, "Ko Jeongwoo, who always cared warmly for others even on Stay, went through such a tough time."
After the talk that day, Ko So-young made him tater tots, a nostalgic dish he always missed with his grandmother, to comfort him. In response, Ko passionately sang the song "Palja," filled with memories of his grandmother.
