'Pursuing Old Encounters' announced the start of a new romance with the 3rd season cast's honest self-introduction and unexpected charm.
On the 28th, 'Pursuing Old Encounters' (hereafter 'PoE'), aired on KBS Joy, KBS2, and GTV, depicting the first meeting of eight cast members: Song Byeong-cheol, Lee Kyu-han, Park Kwang-jae, Lee Kyun, Jang So-yeon, Hwang Bo, Solbi, and Hongja. They began a journey to rekindle the fire of affection amidst old ties through their self-introduction.
The most attention-grabbing moment was the reappearance of Park Kwang-jae, a member from the 2nd season of 'PoE.' He revealed the reason for his return in the 3rd season by saying, "If it was painful, it's an experience; if it was good, it's a memory. Since I had an experience in the 2nd season, I want to create good memories this time."
He also expressed his determination, stating, "I have never done a melodrama in dramas or movies. I want to shoot a melodrama that I couldn't try here." There is keen interest in whether he can become the protagonist of a romance movie in this 3rd season.
Lee Kyu-han garnered attention with his genuine self-introduction. He candidly confessed, "Looking back on my acting life in my 40s, I regret that I have no friends. I had no one to share my feelings with," and added, "I had feelings of inferiority. At some point, my colleagues appeared as competitors." Solbi expressed her liking for Lee Kyu-han, saying, "His trembling voice came across as genuine."
Lee Kyu-han acknowledged his romance with Yujung, a former member of the girl group Bbeotgirl, in September 2023, but they broke up in August last year after a year.
Meanwhile, Hongja revealed an unexpected side, saying, "I don't like exercise, but I'm good at CrossFit, golf, and tennis," and showcased her quirky charm by saying, "I'm afraid of water, but I recently obtained a boat license." Solbi expressed her confidence, saying, "I had no failed dashes. I succeeded in love when I set my mind to it," stimulating curiosity by mentioning, "There is someone I wish would approach me."
Song Byeong-cheol stated, "I didn't know how to start dating. I wanted to revive my dating instincts," revealing that he quit smoking five years ago. He drew attention by sharing that his ideal type does not smoke or drink and speaks elegantly. Jang So-yeon, expressing her interest in Song Byeong-cheol, declared, "He seems healthy in body and mind," and surprised everyone by introducing herself in five languages: Yanbian dialect, English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean.
The reunion of Hwang Bo and Lee Kyun was dramatic. The two first met in 2003 on KBS's 'Mountain Lodge Meeting - War of Roses,' and Lee Kyun openly confessed, "I quite liked her when I was younger." Hwang Bo reminisced, "I remember Lee Kyun being very shy; was that because he liked me? It makes me think seriously about it," hinting at the potential development of their long-standing connection.
After the self-introductions, first impression voting took place. In this season, only couples who felt a connection could embark on a one-on-one late-night drive date, and Lee Kyu-han and Solbi caught attention by choosing each other.
Solbi remarked, "Listening to the self-introductions, it was a bit of a new side. I became curious about what they would be like when together," and Lee Kyu-han explained the reason for his choice by saying, "She's always made it enjoyable, and I think it will be even better together."
The preview released after the broadcast showed Lee Kyu-han and Solbi's late-night drive date and the start of their relationship journey.
