Actors Shin Soo-hyun, Son Sang-yeon, and Park Jung-yeon will appear in 'Our Golden Days.'
KBS 2TV's new weekend drama 'Our Golden Days' (directed by Kim Hyung-seok / written by So Hyun-kyung / produced by Studio Coming Soon, Studio Bom, Monster Union) is 'a family melodrama story of generational empathy about the golden days that everyone has, whether now, in the past, or in the future.'
In the drama, Shin Soo-hyun plays Lee Soo-bin, the youngest daughter of Sang-cheol who dreams of becoming a million-subscriber YouTuber; Son Sang-yeon plays Lee Ji-wan, the second son of Lee Sang-cheol (played by Chun Ho-jin) with bright energy; and Park Jung-yeon plays Park Young-ra, the youngest daughter of chaebol Park Jin-seok (played by Park Sung-keun) living under the watch of Ko Sung-hee (played by Lee Tae-ran) as a promising painter.
First, Shin Soo-hyun explained the reason for choosing the project, saying, 'It was a great fortune and attraction to be able to be in the same space with many wonderful teachers and seniors.' Son Sang-yeon noted, 'I was impressed by the gentle nature and passion of the character Ji-wan, and I felt a lot of similarities, which naturally drew me in.' Finally, Park Jung-yeon said, 'The biggest attraction was that it's a drama that multiple generations can empathize with. I also thought it was a good opportunity to complete this long-running drama with respected seniors and staff.'
Shin Soo-hyun revealed that for this project, 'I made efforts to ensure that the setting of being a YouTuber would look natural by watching many videos of real YouTubers and trying to imitate them.' Son Sang-yeon also conveyed, 'Although he is a nice and gentle character, he surprisingly has a solid and masculine side, and I kept thinking about how to express this contrast naturally.'
Park Jung-yeon said, 'Since I play a role that majors in art, I also learned to paint separately. I prepared carefully because I think painting is a means to show the character Young-ra's charm.'
Shin Soo-hyun and Son Sang-yeon also mentioned their interactions with the actors playing their family members. Shin Soo-hyun stated, 'When filming with family, it creates a cheerful atmosphere where we receive a lot of good advice and encouragement. I hope you can trust and look forward to the chemistry with the teachers and seniors.' Son Sang-yeon shared, 'Since we spend time with the mindset of a real family, it has become the most comfortable relationship. I think the chemistry and immersion are better when we're together with the family in the drama.'
Lastly, Shin Soo-hyun said, 'I feel very excited thinking that many people will be watching. I would appreciate it if you could follow 'Our Golden Days,' which will bring happy energy every evening.' Son Sang-yeon expressed, 'Since this is my first weekend drama, I am passionately working to show Ji-wan's contrasting charm. I ask for a lot of expectations and interest.' Additionally, Park Jung-yeon added, 'Please enjoy 'Our Golden Days,' filled with plain yet splendid characters and stories, with a joyful heart.'
Meanwhile, KBS 2TV's new weekend drama 'Our Golden Days' is set to air for the first time on Aug. 9 (Saturday) at 8 p.m., following 'For Eagle Brothers.'
