The group ILLIT officially concluded their 6-week promotional activities for their mini album 'bomb' after appearing on MBC's 'Show! Music Core' on the 26th.
ILLIT (Yoona, Minju, Mocha, Wonhee, Iroha) captured attention with their energetic performance of the follow-up track 'jellyous' during the broadcast. The members conveyed their feelings on the team's official social media, "GLLIT (the fandom name) has been a great support throughout the 6 weeks. Thank you for your unwavering support and love."
■ Leading trends with a clear identity, proving growth on stage
Since their debut, ILLIT has focused on the story of 'me' and expanded the narrative through the relationship with 'you' in this album, maximizing their unique boldness and honesty. This, combined with their signature addictive beats, innovative lyrics, and impactful key choreography, has enhanced the 'ILLITness' and provided enjoyment for listeners. In particular, their 'magical girl' concept has struck a chord with the 10-20 age group, leading trends. The message, "Anyone can become a magical girl by awakening their potential," has formed a collective empathy.
The upgraded skills were also prominent. ILLIT showcased a broad musical spectrum with the dreamy title track 'Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance)' and the hip follow-up track 'jellyous.' They captivated attention with their high-quality performances and stable live skills, proving the appellation 'trustworthy ILLIT.' During the comeback showcase, they revealed, "We practiced to the point of tasting blood in our throats to show our growth in skill," which attests to their dedication.
■ Breaking records, standing out in domestic and international charts... popularity on the rise
ILLIT's activities have also led to significant achievements. 'bomb' sold over 400,000 copies within a week of its release, dominating the weekly album charts of Hanteo Chart and Circle Chart. In Japan, it surpassed the first-week sales of their previous work on the first day of release and dominated major local album charts such as Oricon and Billboard Japan. Additionally, ILLIT made history by entering the Billboard 200, the main album chart in the U.S., with 'bomb,' placing all their released albums on this chart since their debut.
The popularity of the title track 'Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance),' which won two music show awards, remains strong even a month later. This song entered the Melon daily chart at 82nd (as of June 16) and soared to 28th (as of July 24). It also climbed the Melon weekly chart from 87th (during the 3rd week of June) to 31st (during the 3rd week of July). ILLIT's sustained popularity is evident.
