The famous traditional hanbok brand Geumdanje and the fashion hanbok brand OUWR will spectacularly illuminate the opening stage of 'Seoul Light DDP,' which has swept the world's top three design awards.
'Seoul Light DDP Summer 2025' (hosted by the Seoul Design Foundation) will be held from Jul. 31 (Thursday) to Aug. 10 (Sunday) for 11 days, every day from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the DDP Dongdaemun History and Culture Park. On a hot summer night, the DDP Seoul fortress and the surrounding park will be dyed by media art light, creating an exotic landscape.
On the 31st, a splendid hanbok fashion show completed through the collaboration of Geumdanje and OUWR will announce the beginning of 'Seoul Light DDP Summer 2025.' The theme is 'Timescape: The Connection of Light.' Geumdanje's lead designer Lee Il-sun noted, "The beauty of traditional hanbok unfolds from the past to the future along with the light of media art," and added, "We will present a hanbok fashion show that radiates new light through the fusion of media art."
Beginning with a DJ performance by artist Jun-gwak, the opening event will proceed in earnest, and modern dance performances will dynamically unfold between hanbok fashion shows. The collaboration with jewelry designer Chae-rim (RIMM GIO, CEO), who creatively expresses the depth of tradition and the sensibility of modernity, will enrich the stage with sophistication and artistic beauty. Masters of spatial setup, including Vicky Jeong, and dance production from Blackto of Iruda, Posh Studio, and Kim Cheong-kyung Hair Face will also participate. Actors Jeon Hye-jin, Jang Ha-gyeong, Hwang Eun-ha, Miss Korea, and the Blackto dance troupe are scheduled to take the runway.
Meanwhile, 'Seoul Light DDP' won the Grand Prize at the iF Design Award in February this year, having swept the world's top three design awards (iF, Red Dot, IDEA). 'Seoul Light DDP Summer 2025' will showcase a media facade and installation works consisting of a total of seven contents this summer season. The immersive structure of experiencing media art while walking through the area of the Hanyang Fortress, the Ikansumun, and the water space that crosses the park distinguishes it from past 'Seoul Light DDP' events. Especially for the summer season, the newly created water space in the DDP park aims to provide a fantastic experience that cools off the summer night heat through 'water' while enjoying both media art and experiential exhibitions.
