Actor Oh Chang-seok is demonstrating the essence of being a villain through the character Kim Seon-jae in "The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun."
Oh Chang-seok is actively portraying Kim Seon-jae, who commits unexpected evil deeds in each episode of the MBC daily drama "The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun" (planned by Jang Jae-hoon/directed by Kim Jin-hyung/scripted by Seol Gyeong-eun/produced by MBC C&I), which airs every Monday to Friday at 7:05 p.m.
In a recent broadcast, Seon-jae monitored Moon Tae-gyeong (played by Seo Ha-jun), who is rapidly growing closer to Min Gyeong-chae (played by Yoon Ah-jung). This is because Seon-jae felt threatened as Gyeong-chae, who had not given her heart despite his persistent efforts, seemed to be opening up to Tae-gyeong easily. Seon-jae picked a fight with Tae-gyeong, who frequently visited the executive office, and expressed irritation, warning him not to underestimate the legal team (to which Seon-jae belongs).
Meanwhile, Seon-jae, acting on the orders of Gyeong-chae, followed Jeong Lucia (played by Jang Shin-young), which heightened the tension. Seon-jae was confused after confirming the whereabouts of the elusive chairman Min Du-sik (played by Jeon No-min) with Lucia. Reporting this fact immediately to Gyeong-chae, he revealed sharp insight, saying, "It already seems those two are quite involved."
Oh Chang-seok's portrayal of the villain shone in episode 33. Seon-jae suspected that Lucia might be the same person as his former lover Baek Seol-hee and approached her. Referring to the incident that occurred four years ago involving Seol-hee's daughter Baek Mi-so (played by Lee Ru-da) on the rooftop of the Min-gang distribution building, he observed Lucia's reaction and slowly tightened his grip on her. The scene where Seon-jae smirks maliciously while watching Lucia, who is suffering from trauma, raised the drama's immersion to its peak.
Amid growing curiosity about how Seon-jae, who faintly sensed Lucia's true identity, will proceed next, Oh Chang-seok delicately portrayed the cold and relentless side of the character Kim Seon-jae, delivering a performance that embodied the character.
