Creator Dex revealed the reason for his challenge in acting.
On the 28th, a video titled 'Dex Won Jina. EP.103 After drinking, I confessed. The 1.2 billion won Rolls Royce is mine, Dad's car is 50 million won' was released on the YouTube channel 'Zzanbro.'
In the video, Dex introduced his role in 'The Defects' and said, "I am a very bad person." To this, Won Jina said, "This character is good, but it seems like someone's right-hand man, yet it has a deep narrative and a touching part, so it's a character worth loving," and Shin Dongyeob noted, "That makes sense. You would do it because it seems good," eliciting laughter.
In particular, Won Jina explained, "She was really innocent; she did all the readings and asked, 'Was this role an important one?' She thought it was just a small role and whatever she could do was enough since it was her first acting experience, showing little ambition. She said she'd take it step by step, but once she learned on set that it was an important role, her passion for acting was immense."
Dex explained, "I had never learned acting, so I was wondering what I could do to make up for it, and I thought we should be proactive on set. There were really many action scenes. The lack of lines and the action were the biggest reasons I chose this work. I can't let my fundamentals show. I do well with physical activities, but I lack quality as an actor, and I shouldn't cause problems. Jung Hyun is taciturn and just needs to follow instructions, which aligned well with me, so I thought I could show a good performance."
Meanwhile, Dex, who is currently appearing in 'The Defects', faced a controversy over his acting skills as he stood out for his hollow gaze and awkward gait in scenes where he had to lead the atmosphere, along with expressions that hindered immersion.
Some viewers reacted with comments like, "He looked like a robot," "He needs a lot of acting practice," "It's quite a significant role, how can he handle it?" and "His nervousness shows." On the other hand, others noted, "He's not that awkward," and "You can tell he's nervous, but the rest is okay," adding that considering his rookie status, there are signs of potential.
The new ENA Monday-Tuesday drama 'The Defects,' featuring Dex, airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. on ENA.
