Fitness YouTuber Park Ji-eun (Jay Jay) openly expressed her feelings regarding the family conflict controversy that arose after the broadcast of TV Chosun's entertainment show 'Lovers of Joseon.' Jay Jay directly addressed viewers' concerns and criticisms, appealing that "each family has its own circumstances."
On the 26th, Jay Jay posted a lengthy message on her Instagram, stating, "Due to the recent broadcast, there have been many comments in the community and on YouTube, and there are many who are worried on Instagram as well." She continued, "I thought I was smart, but I was disappointed; there were many comments asking how I could live like that," beginning her explanation regarding the portrayal on the show.
In the earlier broadcast, the conflict between her husband Julien Kang and her mother was depicted against the backdrop of Jay Jay living with her mother, leading to controversy among viewers.
Regarding this, Jay Jay explained, "I have lived with my mother since before marriage and I am currently the head of the household. This cannot be simply viewed as a separation issue," adding, "Since my mother raised me alone and was not prepared for her old age, I bear full responsibility for housing and living expenses."
In response to the perception that her mother was portrayed negatively, she noted, "The broadcast is just a broadcast; there were some intentional productions," adding, "While there have been trial and error, it is true that Julien now understands the situation and both are learning how to maintain distance without conflict."
Additionally, she expressed, "What hurts more than the broadcast's portrayal is the negative perspective towards financial support for parents," stating, "It is a blessing to have found a husband who loves me, despite this situation, and I am also working to be a wife who supports Julien in his tough times."
Finally, Jay Jay explained the reason for deleting the post, saying, "I thought the lengthy TMI would be embarrassing for my family to see, and those who wanted to read it probably did. The conclusion is that I will live well."

Due to the recent broadcast, there have been an overwhelming number of comments in the community and on YouTube, and many people have expressed their concerns on my Instagram and YouTube as well! Many felt frustrated, especially followers who said they thought I was smart but were disappointed. They wondered how I could live like this. I thought it would be important to share a few situations related to this. I might add quite a bit of TMI (too much information).
1. Separation TMI: I have been living with my mother since before marriage and am currently the head of the household. The question of why my mother hasn't separated is not as simple as it sounds. Of course, most of it relates to my circumstances. Normally, when one gets married, a child leaves their parents' house, but I was in a situation where I had to send my mother away from my space. Since I didn't have a newlywed home, I had to look for a separate place for my mother to live, but due to investment at the same time, there was no financial leeway at all. I had to bear all my mother's housing and living expenses.
As many know, I have been separated from my father since birth, and my mother lived alone, so she did not have the capacity to prepare for her old age while raising one daughter. It was a situation where I couldn't blame anyone. My mother must have felt something similar when raising me alone. Fortunately, she had managed her finances well, so I never want to place any burden on my spouse, and I live thinking it is a weight I must carry. For those who simply say, 'Just separate immediately,' it would not be easy if that meant buying a house for my parents or paying monthly rent. If you were the head of the family in that situation, you would realize that the decision is not easy at all. (Because that money is also your spouse's, their agreement is required.) For this reason, I started my married life without separation, and because of this, I am always grateful to Julien. 2. My mother is strange: A broadcast is just a broadcast, and half is intentionally produced, so it differs from my everyday life. However, everything is new and there were indeed initial trial and errors because my mother and I were so close. I think both parents and children need time to become independent. Julien understands this situation well, and now, being a year in, we have learned a lot about how to maintain distance, so there are no situations like those depicted in the broadcast. While it may be regrettable that this process is necessary, people cannot be perfect, so I am making an effort in the middle.
3. Spouse's environment, couple's life: I believe there is no one in the world with perfect conditions. This time, reading the comments, there were many opinions about the concerning aspects of the production, but on the other hand, there was also a lot of unconditional negative attitude toward supporting parents. Yet, there are people in the world who come from such family environments. Fortunately, I have met a really good husband, and we always express gratitude to each other, but I suddenly thought that if it were not the case, it would be really difficult.
It is a blessing to have married a man who loves me, even in my situation, and with that, I strive to be a wife who embraces all of Julien's shortcomings and tough times, wanting to be a generous tree. While reading comments of concern about the broadcast, I felt that I might be lacking, but I also think to just do my best in what I can. I thank those who are worried. Everyone has their own circumstances, and I believe that despite that, the most important thing is for couples to be happy. Moving forward, we will cherish and respect each other and live sweetly together.
