It has been reported that Tzuyang, a mukbang creator, has stated that she will not accept the deposit from Karacura, which is involved in the incident of extortion by YouTubers who extorted 55 million won from her.
On the 27th, a media outlet reported that Tzuyang's side submitted a 'letter of agreement for the recovery of the deposit' stating that they would not reclaim the 20 million won deposited by Karacura in the Suwon District Court's 3rd Criminal Division.
A deposit is money paid by the accused to propose a settlement to the victim to avoid punishment or receive a reduced sentence. In the agreement obtained by the media outlet, Tzuyang's side expressed that they somewhat believed the claimant's assertion that 'the indictment was wrong and she had been wrongfully charged,' but upon seeing the facts recognized in the first trial ruling, they became specifically aware of what actions the claimant had taken without Tzuyang's knowledge. It was clearly understood that the claimant had asserted unjustly in order to secure Tzuyang's intention not to prosecute and to avoid severe punishment. They also realized that the claimant did not genuinely reflect on or feel remorse for the victim.
Last August, revelations surfaced through a YouTube channel that some YouTubers were forming a group called the 'Rekka Union' to intimidate Tzuyang and demand money using her past as leverage. Karacura was charged with aiding in extortion related to the incident and was sentenced to one year in prison with a three-year suspended sentence in February.
On the 27th of last month, Karacura uploaded a new video to her YouTube channel and announced her return, stating, 'I have disappointed the public by forgetting my duty as a clown. I deeply regret this and will take responsibility through actions rather than words in the future.'
Karacura communicated her intention to continue her channel through animal rescue activities, stating, 'Revenue generation is currently halted, and there are no plans to open a sponsorship account. I will take full responsibility for all consequences and will proceed silently.'
