Minwoo of the group Shinhwa has overcome the pain of a 2.6 billion won fraud and announced his marriage, while the past fortune-telling by a shaman is being re-examined.
On the 25th, Minwoo posted a handwritten letter on his social media to personally share the news of his marriage with fans. He stated, "Today, I picked up a pen to share some news that I want to tell Shinhwa Changjo first," and added, "After going through various situations recently, I reflected on the meaning of family and confirmed our precious connection and each other's feelings, deciding to become one family."
He continued, "I thought a lot about Shinhwa Changjo, who must have been surprised by this sudden news, and I wanted to sincerely convey my feelings so that the fans who I cherish the most could celebrate with me."
Minwoo expressed his affection for fans, saying, "Since debuting as Shinhwa, I have received support and love from fans through my passionate teenage years and 20s and into my 30s. Although there were many hard and exhausting times, every moment on stage has been happy."
With this, Minwoo has become the fourth member of Shinhwa to join the ranks of married men, following Eric, Jeonjin, and Andy. Following his surprise announcement, congratulations have come in not only from fans but also from his entertainment industry colleagues, including Brian and Ahn Sunyoung. Minwoo's marriage story will be revealed on the KBS2 variety show "Mr. House Husband."
In an August broadcast last year on KBS2TV's variety show "Mr. House Husband 2," Minwoo was depicted meeting the shaman Go Chun-ja, who consulted for the movie "Pamyo," which surpassed 10 million viewers. At that time, Minwoo received a fortune that he would marry within 2-3 years. Minwoo's mother revealed the reason for visiting the shaman, saying, "I've been curious about whether Minwoo can get married since he hasn't so far." The shaman responded, "If it's long, it will be three years. He will definitely bring someone within 2-3 years. Otherwise, come back again."
The shaman further stated, "However, a critical point will come at 51 years old. You will face a point of no return in the entertainment industry. You will be betrayed by someone very close to you, and during that time, you will also lose your health. At that time, there will be nothing you can do. So you must be very careful," which surprised everyone.
Meanwhile, Minwoo was reported in 2019 for allegedly forcing a kiss on a woman in her 20s by grabbing her cheeks at a bar in Gangnam. At the time, his agency clarified that it was an "incident at a tent bar" and that any misunderstandings between the parties were resolved, ultimately resulting in Minwoo being acquitted.
However, shortly after that, an even more shocking incident occurred. He was deceived by a long-time acquaintance, a friend of his sister, A, who claimed to have connections with the prosecution, resulting in a fraud amounting to 2.6 billion won. The first and second trial courts sentenced A to nine years in prison and ordered a return of the 26 billion won, while the case is currently undergoing retrial at the Seoul High Court due to the Supreme Court's reversal.
Not only did he suffer financial damage, but he also experienced mental and physical pain. In March, Minwoo revealed that he had been suffering from facial paralysis and other symptoms due to nerve damage caused by extreme stress, stating, "I have been undergoing treatment for several years, having missed the golden time," which drew sympathy.
