Singer Park Ji-hyun, who is a contestant on Home Alone, revealed that he is a former Chinese international student.
On the 25th episode of the MBC variety show Home Alone, Park Ji-hyun was depicted trying to make a health-boosting dish, known as 'Mabbak Samgyetang,' to recharge his energy to 100% in preparation for the hot summer season.
On that day, Park Ji-hyun, wearing shorts and slippers, headed somewhere. The place he arrived at was an acrobatic academy filled with workout equipment. Park Ji-hyun noted, "I wanted to try this at least once in my life, and when I watched 2PM, back when I was in middle school, I thought they were really cool because they differentiated themselves from other groups."
He continued, "While learning choreography, my Director General suggested trying acrobatics, so I have been attending an acrobatics academy for a month now. It's my third day," he said, adding, "I think it could be helpful on stage, and I want to show an upgraded version of myself rather than just the same dance, so I decided to learn it," expressing his dream of becoming a 2PM in the trot genre.
Although Park Ji-hyun has only been a student for a month, he demonstrated impressive skills, doing tumbles without using his hands. After finishing a high-intensity workout, Park Ji-hyun went to Daerim Central Market to buy ingredients for a health-boosting dish.
Park Ji-hyun mentioned, "Since it's summer, I need to boost my health. I'm going to buy ingredients for that health-boosting dish. I plan to make a spicy Samgyetang by combining my favorite spicy sauce and Samgyetang."
Kian84 remarked, "That's because you are an international student," and Park Ji-hyun replied, "I went to China for two years when I was in the 4th grade of elementary school." Upon hearing this, Park Na-rae expressed her surprise, saying, "Did your younger sibling do well in Mokpo?"
Park Ji-hyun shared, "I had a bit of a life back then. We owned an internet cafe. To put it simply, it was quite a journey. In the beginning, we started with an accessory store in China, then ran a snack shop, and finally a Korean restaurant. We went bankrupt big time there," he revealed. Once again, Park Na-rae expressed her admiration, saying, "I didn't know, but your younger sibling really lived large in Mokpo."
Park Ji-hyun, proudly declaring, "I'm a study abroad student," said, "I came to find the taste of spicy food in China. I am a generation one of Mala Tang." Park Na-rae replied, "So that's why you like spicy food," and Park Ji-hyun reminisced, "For me, it's just like the level of gochujang. After school, while eating tteokbokki, I would have Mala Tang after school in China."
Meanwhile, Park Ji-hyun conversed in Chinese with a grocery store owner. Upon being praised for his high level of skill, Park Ji-hyun said, "I can understand everything," adding, "I can speak a little Chinese. I attended Shanghai Shanghong Middle School. I even participated in a speech competition. When Koreans came to China, I represented them during the speech competition," he boasted.
Kian84 asked, "Isn't Hyun-moo also fluent in Chinese?" and both Jun Hyun-moo and Park Ji-hyun engaged in light conversation in Chinese, attracting attention.
