Actress Kim Geum-soon confessed her tumultuous life story. In her third year after divorce, she moved viewers' hearts with her story about marriage and childbirth in Brazil, and her persistent life after divorce.
On the broadcast of KBS2TV's 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' on the 25th, Kim Geum-soon, known as Jenny's mom from 'When Life Gives You Tangerines,' made her first appearance.
On that day's broadcast, Kim Geum-soon welcomed the cast with a Brazilian home-cooked meal she prepared and started off by saying, 'I began my married life in Brazil.' She continued, 'After following a pansori teacher to Brazil, I met my ex-husband who was living there and got married. Thus, I lived in Brazil for 10 years.'
She then recalled her tumultuous past before becoming a single mother saying, 'At that time, I was 29 years old and gave birth to two sons in Brazil.' However, the marriage was not easy. Kim Geum-soon recalled, 'Deciding to get divorced was really not easy,' reflecting on the pain at that time, and ultimately chose divorce after long contemplation. Thus, she returned to Korea with her two sons.
Her son said, 'At the time of the divorce, I saw my mom break down for the first time. I truly didn't know what to do,' conveying the shock of that moment.
However, Kim Geum-soon did not crumble. Rather, she confessed, 'After the divorce, I felt relieved. I solely focused on my children and ran ahead.' Even more surprising was the turnaround in life that followed.
She disclosed, 'Ironically, after the divorce, I received an acting award in 2022,' saying, 'As soon as I got divorced, good fortune came. The sadness and joy came together, and it actually brought balance to my life. I thought, this is what life is like.' In this way, she was fiercely living her life as a three-year divorcee.
Kim Geum-soon also opened up about her first experience living in Korea, saying, 'Everything was unfamiliar, and I had to adapt in a rush. I had to manage financially as well, and I was a living-wage actress.'
Her son said, 'Mom always smiled without saying she was having a hard time. Later, I realized that was her consideration.' He continued, 'Mom always tried to give us the best. Even though life was tough, she never got annoyed and protected us,' expressing heartfelt gratitude.
Viewers watching the broadcast that day reacted with comments like, 'This is a real-life drama,' 'She's so wonderful as a mother and an actress,' and 'She shines even more after the divorce,' conveying great impact.
