After 8 years of a long period of obscurity, actor Taewon-seok has finally begun his acting career in earnest with 'Player' and has fully developed the unique character known as 'Good Boy' through it.
Taewon-seok's acting life has not been easy, having lived a life of minor roles and obscurity for 8 years. However, meeting 'Player' has become a decisive turning point that changed his acting life. He chose 'Player' as his life's work, recalling, "After living for 8 years as a minor actor, I was able to meet the company and the people who helped me, and it was the work that changed my acting life."
'Player' character Do Jin-woong was Taewon-seok himself. The character, who helped him bloom into his acting life, reflected much of his real self, giving it a deep affection. Through a perfectly synchronized character and work, Taewon-seok has solidified his presence to the public as both an 'action master' and 'Good Boy'.
The sprout that blossomed in 'Player' fully bloomed through 'Good Boy'. Taewon-seok passionately portrayed Shin Jae-hong, a national disc thrower and a detective from a special police unit in 'Good Boy', leaving a strong impression on viewers. With overwhelming physicality and the twist of being a vegetarian, he completed a 'hard outside, soft inside' character, showcasing a variety of genres in comedy, humanism, and action.
Taewon-seok expressed, "My acting spectrum has widened. I received responses like, 'Taewon-seok can do this too' and 'He can do this funny stuff as well,' and I think of 'Good Boy' as a work that opened a second path in my acting life," revealing how significant the work is to him.
Especially about the nickname 'Good Boy', he commented, "That's not a worry or concern, but a crown, and having that image means being the best in that field. I often think that while enjoying the peak, I can definitely bring about change."
However, the filming process of 'Good Boy' was filled with hardships. Dealing with ghosts prolonged the shoot, and he had to act in thin air alone for CG scenes, which posed difficulties. Yet, as someone who is "dull in feeling pain," he said, "It was worth the hardships," showing his strong passion for acting.
Above all, what touched him deeply was his profound consideration for his fellow actors. During the filming of 'Good Boy', Taewon-seok remarked about Park Bo-gum, who suffered a leg injury, "It's truly a serious injury. Knowing how much Bo-gum must be feeling hurt and sorry made me worry even more," displaying warmth and camaraderie. He also cherished the moments when he remembered Heo Sung-tae saying, "There are 10,000 people who want to fill our roles. So we have to do our best."
Taewon-seok has grown further as an actor through 'Good Boy'. He still feels an endless thirst for acting. He has a firm philosophy that says, "I have to become the best in a certain field to choose works," and he does not hide his passion for new challenges like playing a 'wealthy, arrogant character' or action acting.
After quietly enduring 8 years as a minor actor and blooming his potential through 'Player', Taewon-seok fully developed his own character known as 'Good Boy'. The passionate growth narrative written over the 8 years has deeply moved the public and heightened anticipation for his next steps.
