Yoon Kye-sang of 'Try' praised the beauty of Kim Yo-han, with whom he shared the screen.
On the afternoon of the 25th, SBS held a press conference for the new Friday-Saturday drama 'The Winning Try' (written by Lim Jin-a, directed by Jang Young-seok, abbreviated as 'Try') at its headquarters in Mokdong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul.
'Try' is a comedic coming-of-age sports drama about the unpredictable quirky director Joo Ka-ram and the perennial last-place rugby team of Hanyang Physical Education High School racing toward victory in the National Sports Festival. Following its two highly praised sports dramas 'Stove League' in 2020 and 'Racket Boys' in 2021, SBS is generating expectations with this long-awaited youth sports drama.
In the meantime, Kim Yo-han plays the role of team captain Yoon Sung-joon in the rugby team. Having actually graduated from physical education high school and previously worked as a taekwondo athlete before his debut, he stated, "From three months before filming, I trained with my rugby team friends, real rugby team friends. At first, it was a challenging sport for us since it was unfamiliar. But as I practiced, I learned the rules and felt its charm. It was fun during practice, even when we played touch games instead of full contact. So, I was able to film with much deeper understanding and more enjoyment during the shoot."
He continued, "We practiced together all the time. The director also came out a few times to practice with us." To this, Yoon Kye-sang was surprised and corrected, "I went exactly twice. I went for two weeks," which brought laughter.
Regarding Kim Yo-han's casting, director Jang Young-seok commented, "Doesn't he look like a sports team captain popped out of a comic?" To this, Yoon Kye-sang also marveled, saying, "When he really acts, it feels strange. He's so pretty. It makes you feel that way as a man." In response, Park Kyung-rim added, "We felt that way about Yoon Kye-sang 20 years ago," which added warmth to the atmosphere.
'Try' will air for the first time tonight (25th) at 9:50 p.m.
