'The Winning Try' production team has announced its editing policy regarding actor Song Young-kyu's drunk driving controversy.
On the 25th, a representative from SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'The Winning Try' (abbreviated as 'Try') stated to OSEN regarding actor Song Young-kyu's drunk driving, "We were surprised and regretful to learn of this news through reports."
The drama's representative explained, "'Try' is a pre-produced drama that completed all filming last March. As we learned about the news through reports just before the first broadcast, the production team is also surprised and regretful."
He emphasized, "Actor Song Young-kyu plays a supporting role in this drama. The episode to be aired this week has already been prepared for broadcast, including on global OTT platforms, so we ask for your understanding that immediate editing is difficult."
However, he added, "We are currently discussing how to edit future scenes in a way that does not affect the main storyline."
Song Young-kyu is under suspicion of driving about 5 kilometers while intoxicated on the 19th of last month in a location in Giheung District, Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province. He was reported to the police by a witness at the time and is reported to have shown a blood alcohol concentration (above 0.08%) that is at a level for license suspension during a breathalyzer test conducted by the police dispatched to the scene.
The drama 'Try,' starring Song Young-kyu, is a comedic coming-of-age sports drama about a quirky director, Joo Ka-ram, and the last-place rugby team of Hanyang High School racing toward the championship at the National Sports Festival. It will be released on Netflix and is scheduled to premiere tonight at 9:50 p.m.
