As actor Song Young-kyu faces controversy over drunk driving, the production team of the play 'Shakespeare in Love' is discussing alternative casting.
On the 25th, a representative of the play 'Shakespeare in Love' told OSEN, "Unfortunately, actor Song Young-kyu will appear in today's performance (the 25th). We are currently coordinating internally regarding casting going forward."
A media outlet reported that on the night of the 19th of last month, Song Young-kyu is suspected of driving approximately 5 km in a drunken state around 11 p.m. He was apprehended after witnesses reported to the police suspecting drunk driving. As a result of a breathalyzer test conducted at the scene, Song Young-kyu was reportedly found to have a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 0.08%, which is the level for license suspension.
Currently, Song Young-kyu is appearing in the ENA Monday-Tuesday drama 'The Defects', the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Try: We Become Miracles', as well as the play 'Shakespeare in Love'. In particular, for 'Shakespeare in Love', there is substantial content featuring Song Young-kyu, including tonight's performance (the 25th). Therefore, a cast replacement has become unavoidable.
