"My Daughter is a Zombie" star Jo Jung-suk provided a cute explanation regarding his wife, Gummy's remarks.
On the morning of the 24th, an interview with Jo Jung-suk, the leading actor of the film "My Daughter is a Zombie," took place at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
"My Daughter is a Zombie" (directed by Pil Gam-seong, distributed by NEW, produced by Studio N) is a comedic drama about a doting father (played by Jo Jung-suk) who enters secret training to protect his daughter (played by Choi Yu-ri), who has become the last zombie in the world. The film, which brings the popular webtoon of the same name to the screen, is directed by Pil Gam-seong, who has previously showcased compelling direction in films like "Hostage" and "A Day of Disaster.'' The veteran production crew, who worked on projects like "Train to Busan," "Extreme Job," "Exit," "Hansan: Rising Dragon," "The Drug King," "Squid Game" series, and "All of Us Are Dead," is also heavily involved.
Jo Jung-suk plays Jung-hwan, a father who, having a background as a professional beast trainer, secretively trains to protect his daughter Sua, the last zombie in the world. Jo Jung-suk, who has driven the summer box office in Korea with hits like "Exit" (2019/9.42 million), and "Pilot" (2024/4.71 million), is returning with "My Daughter is a Zombie" after a year and is once again expected to succeed at the box office.
In this new work "My Daughter is a Zombie," Jo Jung-suk, who portrays a strong paternal love, is actually a father of a 6-year-old daughter. He married singer Gummy in October 2018 and welcomed their daughter in August 2020.
Regarding his daughter, he stated, "You can think of her as just having long hair like my face. (laughs) When my daughter, who resembles me, gets scolded by her mom, she wants to hide somewhere because she is too much like me." He continued, "She usually doesn't listen, is stubborn, and throws tantrums when scolded. Our daughter is quirky, but that quirkiness has its charm."
Recently, Gummy described her husband in a YouTube channel "Cheonggye Mountain Daeungi Records" as "someone who does whatever he wants," to which Jo Jung-suk humorously denied, saying, "That's not true." At that time, when asked, "If you could live one day as someone else, who would you want to be?" Gummy answered, "My husband Jo Jung-suk. The reason is that he gets to do whatever he wants," resonating with countless wives across the nation.
Jo Jung-suk mentioned, "I am an ISTP. Recently, while talking with Gummy about MBTI characteristics, I burst out laughing because one of my traits is that if I can't lie down to rest, it's a big problem. It's said that 'I lie down when I want to lie down and get up when I want to get up.' I think that's referring to such traits," and he added, "She said I live doing what I want, and that's why I get scolded sometimes," with a laugh.
He continued, "Nevertheless, I am someone who knows when to restrain myself. I come across as someone who does whatever they want. (laughs) At home, I've asked Gummy, 'Why did you say I'm that kind of person?'" confessing a bit of a timid rebellion, which generated laughter.
Meanwhile, "My Daughter is a Zombie" is set to be released on the 30th.
