Actor Song Young-kyu has been revealed to have driven under the influence while intoxicated, and it has been confirmed that he has left his agency following the expiration of his contract.
According to OSEN's coverage on the 25th, Song Young-kyu was active under Management Goo until early June of last year, but since then, with the expiration of his exclusive contract, he has continued his acting activities without a special agency.
In this regard, an official from his former agency told OSEN, "I can't say for sure when exactly the contract expired, but currently, actor Song Young-kyu is out of our agency."
On the same day, a media outlet reported that Song Young-kyu was investigated by police for allegedly driving under the influence and was later transferred to the prosecution.
According to reports, the Yongin Dongbu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province dispatched Song Young-kyu to the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office without detention at the end of last month on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
Song Young-kyu is suspected of driving approximately 5 kilometers from Giheung-gu to Cheoin-gu, Yongin City, while intoxicated around 11 p.m. on the 19th of last month. After receiving a report from a witness suggesting that "drunk driving was suspected," the police identified his vehicle and apprehended him.
At the time, the police conducted a breath test on Song Young-kyu, and his blood alcohol content was found to be at a level that would result in license cancellation (0.08% or higher). Additionally, it was investigated that after drinking with acquaintances in Giheung-gu, he personally drove home.
Meanwhile, Song Young-kyu made his debut in 1994 with the children's musical 'Muttal Dosa' and has appeared in blockbuster films such as 'Extreme Job,' Netflix's 'Suriname,' and Disney+'s 'Casino.' He is currently appearing in the ENA drama 'The Defects' and will also appear in the SBS drama 'Try: We Become Miracles,' which will premiere on the 25th. Additionally, he will be on stage in the play 'Shakespeare in Love' at the Seoul Arts Center until September 14.
