Singer Wax is returning to mark her 25th debut anniversary.
On the 25th, her agency Funhan Entertainment announced, "Wax will reinterpret 'The Threshold of Twilight,' which was included in her 4th album 'WAX4' released in 2003, after 22 years."
'The Threshold of Twilight' is the first track of the 4th album and captures the monologue of a woman reflecting on her past while urging herself to move forward.
In the original lyrics, "Before I know it, time holds me and brings me to the threshold of twilight / It only lets out deep sighs over old memories / I have no regrets, I am happy even now / Because I still have dreams," reflects the struggles of a life lived by a woman from birth to twilight, resonating deeply with the generation of that time.
Wax noted, "Singing this song again evokes completely different emotions," adding, "Now I can feel the meaning of the lyrics that I had only imagined before with my whole body."
In a 2003 interview, she expressed, "I hope my songs are recognized for their unique Wax style," and as part of this sentiment, the current remake project is expected to be a work reborn not merely as a simple reproduction of past songs, but in '2025 Wax's unique style.'
'The Threshold of Twilight,' following the first single 'Fixing My Makeup' released on June 12, is the second piece in the [RE:WAX] project sequentially remaking five of Wax's representative songs. It is anticipated to reflect on Wax's 25-year musical journey and serve as a starting point toward a new 25 years, alongside the remaining three songs to be released in the future.
Meanwhile, Wax recently portrayed a romantic line with comedian Lee Sang-jun in the second season of 'Pursuing Old Encounters,' aired on KBS Joy and KBS 2TV.
