Singer Lee Min-woo (Shinhwa) surprised the public by announcing his marriage through a handwritten letter in his fan cafe on July 25. However, his true feelings were already revealed three months earlier on a broadcast.
In April, during the Channel A program "Best Friends Documentary - Four-Person Table," Lee Min-woo attended a dinner hosted by his long-time friend Solbi and sat at the table with Brian and Kwon Hyuk-soo. During that broadcast, Lee Min-woo candidly opened up about his thoughts on marriage.
"Among the members, there are friends who are married... I thought it would be nice to have someone who could fill the emptiness when I'm alone. Family is another matter," he began, continuing, "There have been times when the burden of family felt a bit overwhelming. I have been the head of the household since I was 21. I had to pay off my father's debts... I felt like I would be pitiful if I aged like this."
In particular, he expressed his longing for marriage and family, stating, "I really love children. I feel so envious when I see ordinary families. I want to live like that too... There have been times when my heart felt heavy like an unresolved regret."
Just three months after the broadcast, he made the actual marriage announcement, eliciting a passionate response from fans.
In his handwritten letter, Lee Min-woo revealed, "Having confirmed each other's sincerity with a precious relationship I've known for a long time, I decided to get married," and he noted that he recently reflected on the meaning of 'family' through the time spent with his family. He added, "I always had a vague desire to build my own family that supports each other, and now I have met that meaningful connection and it has come to fruition."
For fans who may have been surprised by the sudden announcement, he said, "I gathered my courage, thinking about Shinhwa Changjo who would be upset if they heard this news elsewhere first," adding, "I wanted to convey it personally out of a desire to be congratulated."
