Model Lee Gi-yong shared his feelings ahead of his resignation.
On the 23rd, Lee Gi-yong posted a lengthy message on his social account, adding an explanation regarding his resignation from the restaurant.
Lee Gi-yong stated, "After recent news reports, many people reached out to express their support and concern. I sincerely thank everyone who has shown interest. I am currently preparing to resign, and the exact schedule is being coordinated. It seems I have caused some concern due to some provocative article headlines. I will do my best until the allotted time given to me."
He said, "I am grateful to have worked alongside wonderful people in a beloved space over the past nearly year. It has been a time I approached with affection and sincerity. I am regarding this change as a precious opportunity to prepare for a new challenge. If you could watch my future steps with warm eyes, it would be a great source of strength for me."
Previously, Lee Gi-yong garnered attention by revealing that he has been working as a restaurant employee for the first time in 14 years, leaving behind a glamorous past as a top model dating back to May. He also mentioned that before working at the restaurant, he did food delivery work.
In this context, Lee Gi-yong recently announced his resignation, saying, "Due to the company's difficult decision, I will also be sorting out my position." He added, "Since it is a decision conveyed to me, I intend to quietly do my best until the given time."
He further expressed, "My mind has been a bit unsettled lately. Although the environment has not changed, I know it will soon, so my heart feels a bit swayed." He mentioned, "The decision was made suddenly, so there wasn't sufficient warning or preparation. However, the positive aspect is that this pause after nearly three years of working in the restaurant, focused only on moving forward, will undoubtedly become a time I will be grateful for in the future."
Meanwhile, Lee Gi-yong debuted in the entertainment industry after winning the 2002 SBS Super Model Contest, and has since been active in films like 'The Shadowless Sword' and 'The Gangster's Wife 3,' as well as commercials. After pausing his entertainment activities, he revealed, "Although the image presented seems strong, I am not. I had low self-esteem and felt burdened by people's expectations, and the gap was so large that I lost my courage. That's why I wanted to run away. I feared being found out in a shabby state," explaining the reason for his sudden disappearance.
